Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Availability: On-call and available 24/7 for critical issues or emergencies

Work Split: Approximately 50% hands-on maintenance on the manufacturing floor and 50% managerial responsibilities

Wage: $120,000 – $140,000 + 15% Bonus

Job Perspective

The Maintenance Manager is responsible 24/7 for the overall condition and reliability of the facility, plant, and grounds. This role oversees the maintenance team and coordinates activities related to installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial machinery, boilers, electrical systems, refrigeration, and building structures.

The ideal candidate sets clear expectations, provides training, encourages collaboration, and embraces a hands-on, team-oriented approach. As a working Maintenance Manager, approximately 50% of the role is spent on the production floor training team members, troubleshooting issues, and performing preventive maintenance.

This position reports to senior operations leadership. In addition to daily maintenance execution, the Maintenance Manager is accountable for equipment reliability, predictability, and readiness to support safe, compliant, and efficient operations. The role focuses on developing and sustaining systems that reduce unplanned downtime, prevent repeat failures, and ensure critical assets are process-ready.

Responsibilities

Supervise maintenance personnel and establish priorities for maintenance schedules

Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety programs, procedures, and policies, and completed safely, accurately, and on time

Maintain manufacturing assets and facilities, including parts inventory, purchase order tracking, invoice approvals, and department budget management

Troubleshoot, train, and collaborate with the maintenance team on the production floor

Develop and implement Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs

Understand and comply with applicable local, state, and federal requirements related to facility and equipment maintenance

Monitor high-pressure boilers to ensure safe and efficient operation

Rebuild and maintain a wide range of equipment including motors, pumps, agitators, piping, valves, and other process equipment

Evaluate repair needs and compare internal versus external service options to determine cost-effective solutions

Read and interpret schematics and diagrams to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and piping systems

Coordinate maintenance activities with plant operations

Lead equipment readiness reviews prior to campaigns, startups, and critical production runs

Partner with operations to define and maintain “ready-to-run” standards for critical equipment

Analyze and resolve work-related problems; assist team members with problem-solving as needed

Lead assigned capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives

Prepare written troubleshooting guides and maintenance documentation

Serve as Chief Boiler Operator

Provide coverage when day-shift maintenance technicians are on PTO

Maintain periodic night-shift presence for training and oversight (minimum monthly; adjust schedule as needed for 2–3 hours)

Assign work, set expectations, provide training, coaching, and feedback; assess performance against required skills and behaviors

Promote a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement

Perform other duties as assigned

Reliability & Asset Management Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Preventive Maintenance program

Own and enhance the site reliability program, ensuring critical assets meet defined targets for uptime, MTBF, and MTTR

Develop and maintain equipment criticality rankings and risk-based maintenance strategies

Ensure an optimal balance of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, with year-over-year reduction in reactive maintenance

Audit PM effectiveness and revise maintenance strategies based on failure trends and operating conditions

Maintain failure history and lead structured root cause analysis (RCA) for major or recurring equipment failures

Education / Requirements

Maintenance Electrician License required or strongly preferred

Boiler license Preferred (2B)

Associate degree or equivalent technical training with 5+ years of related experience; multi-discipline maintenance experience strongly preferred

Minimum of 8 years of maintenance management experience

Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Strong customer service mindset with effective written and verbal communication skills

Experience with regulatory and compliance requirements preferred
