Aerotek Smt Operator I in Burnaby, British Columbia
As an SMT Operator, you will be responsible for machine setup and operation, quality control, maintenance, troubleshooting, and production support within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Prepare and set up SMT equipment such as pick-and-place machines, stencil printers, and reflow ovens.
Load feeders, verify component part numbers, and ensure correct machine programming.
Perform line changeovers efficiently while minimizing downtime.
Inspect solder paste deposition, component placement, and reflow quality using AOI or manual inspection tools.
Identify and document defects like tombstoning, bridging, insufficient solder, or misaligned components.
Perform routine preventive maintenance on SMT machines and feeders.
Troubleshoot common equipment issues and escalate complex problems.
Maintain clean, organized work areas to support ESD and safety standards.
Monitor production output to ensure boards meet throughput and quality targets.
Record production data, machine logs, and defect information accurately.
Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and quality teams to improve processes.
Essential Skills
2+ years of SMT operator experience.
Ability to set up and operate SMT machines.
Good English communication skills and the ability to read and understand assembly documentation.
Proficiency in computer skills, including SharePoint usage.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs on a non-repetitive basis.
Capability to distinguish different colors accurately.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with soldering is nice to have.
Flexible and willing to learn.
Good team player with a positive attitude.

Work Environment
Work in a large facility with multiple departments on the production floor. The environment is organized, clean, and quiet, though employees may occasionally be exposed to dust, solder, metals, high noise levels from machinery, or physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts. The culture fosters teamwork, positivity, and inclusivity with cross-training opportunities. The shift runs from Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Dress code includes wearing a smock, shoe covers, ear plugs, goggles, and closed-toe shoes.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $29.00/hr.
