Job Description:

Completes daily analysis of medical records for trauma patients and determines eligibility for registry reporting. Reports and transmits hospital data in a timely and complete manner to relevant reporting agencies. Consults with physicians and clinical staff to acquire trauma case reporting information. Participates in Trauma Performance Improvement Program, including data analysis, medical record extrapolation, and data entry for the trauma registry. Assumes responsibility for data validation prior to submission. Collects trauma data for injury research, prevention, and quality improvement tracking. Conducts and presents trauma registry reports. Monitors trauma patient records for quality improvement indicators. Coordinates efforts in the progressive growth of the trauma system. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency. Performs other duties as assigned. Analyzes and abstracts detailed clinical and administrative data from medical records to meet hospital, accreditation, and regulatory agency requirements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Accurate typing skills. [Required]

• Must be able to communicate effectively. [Required]

• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. [Required]

• 1 year of medical records preferred, previous Registrar experience a plus, ICD-10 experience a plus, and experience with chart auditing, quality improvement, and data entry. [Required]

• Working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and familiarity with statistics with the ability to analyze and draw inferences from statistical data. [Required]

• Knowledge in Trauma Registry methodology, case abstracting, and data entry. [Required]

• Knowledge of data integrity and analysis. [Required]

• Verbal and written communication skills. [Required]

• Ability to perform statistical analysis. [Required]

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently. [Required]

• Positive interpersonal and communication skills. [Required]

• Good organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to function is a fast-paced environment. [Required]

• Must demonstrate proficiency with computers and understanding of medical terminology. [Required]

Education:

• Associate [Preferred]

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Field of Study:

• or equivalent

• in health information or related field

Pay Range:

$19.84 - $36.89
