Actalent Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Burbank, California
Manufacturing Engineer – Lead Innovation in High‑Performance Aerospace Manufacturing
Ready to take ownership of meaningful engineering projects and make a direct impact on product quality, cost, and manufacturability? As a Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll be the technical backbone of major aerospace programs — driving process excellence, solving complex problems, and shaping how world‑class components are built.
You’ll work cross‑functionally with manufacturing, customer engineering, suppliers, planners, and leadership, influencing every stage of production. If you enjoy variety, technical challenge, and seeing your work directly hit the shop floor, this role offers the perfect balance of autonomy, visibility, and hands‑on engineering.
What You’ll Do (and Why It Matters)
You’ll be the go‑to technical expert for your assigned projects, ensuring products are manufacturable, cost‑effective, and delivered with precision. Your work will include:
Creating clear, practical work instructions for detail parts, sub‑assemblies, and top‑level assemblies that truly support mechanics on the floor.
Applying operation time standards and developing Work Combination Sheets that improve efficiency and flow.
Ensuring manufacturability across all parts and assemblies — reducing risk, downtime, and waste.
Acting as the technical link between internal manufacturing teams and customer engineering groups.
Collaborating with suppliers to build strong, reliable processes and resolve issues quickly.
Supporting and leading initial manufacturing cycles for New Product Introductions that set the tone for future production success.
Coordinating schedules and providing real‑time updates with the Contracts Administrator and Ops Manager.
Evaluating existing processes and identifying opportunities to boost throughput and quality.
Leading and supporting cost‑reduction initiatives (including special high‑visibility projects).
Partnering with Production Support Teams to solve problems rapidly and effectively.
Conducting root cause and corrective actions (RCCA) to eliminate recurring nonconformances.
Documenting and validating processes across machining, forming, stamping, heat treating, and chemical processing — including materials like Titanium, Inconel, Aluminum, Stainless steels, and tooling steels.
Managing engineering changes and ensuring flawless implementation.
Driving tooling design and improvements for manufacturing and assembly.
Developing new processes that leverage and expand the company’s manufacturing capabilities.
Reviewing production drawings and offering expert technical insights.
Recommending smart, credible solutions for products, tooling, and processes.
Supplying technical data that supports accurate, competitive quotations.
Following company standards while championing continuous improvement.
Coaching and mentoring other Manufacturing Engineers to elevate team capability.
What You Bring to the Team
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with 7+ years of experience (Aerospace preferred), OR
Master’s degree with 6+ years of aerospace engineering experience.
Strong understanding of sheet metal and aerospace materials.
Familiarity with welding, forming, NDT processes, and general sheet metal manufacturing.
Proficiency in GD&T and interpreting engineering drawings with precision.
A passion for process improvement, technical problem‑solving, and cross‑functional collaboration.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
Consistent Monday–Friday schedule with a flexible start window (6 AM – 8 AM).
A stable, structured work environment — typical hours are 7 AM – 4 PM.
A cohesive team of 15 Manufacturing Engineers and planners who collaborate, share knowledge, and support each other.
Full, immersive onsite experience — ideal for hands‑on engineers who like to be close to the action.
Opportunities to lead initiatives, influence process development, and own meaningful engineering work.
High visibility within the organization and direct impact on quality, efficiency, and production success.
