About Miami Correctional Facility :
As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Miami Correctional Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. The Miami Correctional Facility is a maximum-security correctional facility for adult males. The Miami Correctional Facility is located in Bunker Hill. Miami Correctional Facility is on the southeast corner of the Grissom Aeroplex, just south of Peru, Indiana, in Miami County. Miami Correctional Facility offers several opportunities for work and educational programs, including a program where incarcerated individuals translate reading materials to Braille and a sewing shop that provides items for partner organizations.
Employees at Miami Correctional Facility support the safe and secure operations of the facility 24 hours a day 7 days per week. Depending on operational needs, assignments will include working with state incarcerated individuals and/or federal detainees.
Role Overview :
As a Warehouse Supervisor you will perform a wide variety of tasks in the supervision and overall operation of the Miami Correctional Facility Warehouse and Commissary operations. This involves directing and managing the stocking of inventory and disbursement of goods and materials, delivery of items within the facility, Consumable Inventory module in PeopleSoft and ensuring compliance with all ACA, OSHA and IDOC policies and procedures. Additionally, you are responsible for managing all duties involved with stocking, issuing, RMA’s, transfers and returns of Commissary at the facility and for uniform ordering and distribution to facility staff.
Salary Statement :
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $39,000.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
Eligible non-custody staff who complete required training and certification to perform federal detention duties will receive a $20 non-discretionary bonus for each shift that they are assigned those duties.
A Day in the Life:
The essential elements of the job duties:
Direct all warehouse and related functions for an agency or state facility by monitoring operations and adapting processes to enhance efficiency and achieve operational goals.
Participate in establishing policies and procedures for the control of inventory, method of conducting scheduled inventories, and maintenance of documentation on all items received in a facility or agency.
Provide advice and technical expertise in preparing specifications and purchase requisitions for special items.
Review with vendors regarding items, purchase specifications, delinquent deliveries, errors in shipment, and substituted items.
Direct and supervise the staff, and offender workers where applicable, assigned to the warehouses.
Instruct staff regarding the proper storage, rotation, and stocking of inventory.
Make regular inspections to ensure optimal use is being made of available materials and make appropriate recommendations.
Review with vendor representatives to determine suitability of their products for agency or facility use and recommends the purchase of new products.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE).
Four (4) years full time experience in warehouse operations, store keeping, bookkeeping, or related area including two (2) year of managerial or supervisory experience.
Considerable knowledge of OSHA standards, key, tool and caustic control and all other related state policies and procedures.
Thorough knowledge of computerized and physical inventory systems.
Thorough knowledge of inventory management, bookkeeping and record keeping.
Thorough knowledge of Fixed Asset & Consumable Inventory Management Policies and Procedures.
Thorough knowledge of requisitioning, ordering and disbursing procedures, consumption rates of stored items and the proper methods of storing a variety of goods and materials.
Ability to direct and train staff and offenders (if applicable) in the performance of duties, storage methods, and the proper operation of all equipment.
Ability to operate a forklift, hand truck and other mechanical equipment in the warehouses.
Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
