Summary:
A Senior Mammography Technologist performs mammography, radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures and related clerical functions at a level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Demonstrates ability and performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnosis. Responsible for mammography QA and assurance of compliance to MQSA standards. The Senior Mammography Technologist is responsible for preparing accreditations, performing site surveys including ACR and MQSA, oversees the QA/QC in mammography, and trains/educates new technologists.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
Graduate of an Approved School of Radiologic Technology
Certified Mammography Technologist by the ARRT
BLS Preferred
New York State License as a “General Radiologic Technologist” and current New York State Department of Health certificate of registration as a Radiologic Technologist
EXPERIENCE
- One (1) year of Radiology/Mammography experience required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Interpersonal skills relating to patient care
Ability to coach and train mammography technologists
Basic computer skills
WORKING CONDITIONS
Good general health necessary in order to stand and walk most of the day. Must have the ability to pull, push, and lift patients and equipment
