Catholic Health Nurse Practitioner Primary Care Family Health Center SCH in Buffalo, New York

Work Schedule: Days

Hours: 8:00am to 4:00pm

Summary:

Provides medical care in support of professional medical staff. Provides a variety of medical services to patients in accordance with established laws and procedures. Works cooperatively with other health professionals under the direct supervision of a physician.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current NYS RN license required

  • Completion of an accredited Masters degree or higher program for Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner program

  • Current NYS license as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, or Family Nurse Practitioner

  • Nurse Practitioner Certification required

  • If a Family Nurse Practitioner, must successfully complete 34 hours of Continuing Education modules by the National Certification Corporation (NCC) within the first three (3) months of hire as outlined below:

  • Pharmacology in Pregnancy (5 hours)

  • Maternal Physiology (5 hours)

  • Fetal Assessment (2 hours)

  • Maternal Risk Factors (2 hours)

  • Menstrual Disorders (10 hours)

  • Reproductive Age Issues in Women’s Health (10 hours)

EXPERIENCE

  • Three (3) years’ experience as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner preferred or three (3) years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner with active practice experience in gynecologic care

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a RN, preferably in Labor and Delivery and/or Post-Partum required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Certification in BLS required

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is demanding and stressful at times

  • Visual and auditory acuity are essential

  • Works indoors in a well lighted, well ventilated area

  • May be exposed to communicable diseases
