Aerotek Forklift Operator in Buffalo, New York

Job Title: Forklift Operator Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Forklift Operator to support daily warehouse operations. This individual will be responsible for loading and unloading inbound and outbound shipments of various products, including soaps, shampoos, dog food, school supplies, and other assorted goods. The role will work under the supervision of the Operations Manager and receive daily task direction from the Dispatch Supervisor. Beyond forklift operation, this person will assist with general warehouse functions such as picking orders, storing products, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate forklifts (sit-down/stand-up) to load and unload trucks and trailers.

  • Handle a variety of products, ensuring accuracy and care during movement and storage.

  • Stage, organize, and verify inbound and outbound shipments.

  • Pick orders and replenish inventory as needed.

  • Move, store, and stack products throughout the warehouse.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace in compliance with safety guidelines.

  • Follow direction from the Dispatch Supervisor regarding daily priorities and workload.

  • Communicate issues, discrepancies, or safety concerns to management.

  • Assist with other warehouse duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • 1–2+ years of forklift experience (sit-down preferred).

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Basic knowledge of warehouse operations, shipping, and receiving processes.

  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

  • Experience with RF scanners for picking, put-away, and inventory tracking.

  • Basic computer proficiency.

  • Knowledge of pallet configuration for different product types.

  • Understanding of basic shipping/receiving paperwork such as BOLs, packing lists, and load sheets.

  • Ability to safely handle fragile or spill-risk products, especially liquids and bagged goods.

Work Environment

The work environment is temperature controlled between 55 degrees and 77 degrees depending on the time of year. The shift is from 8 to 4, with flexible start and finish times. Enjoy a relaxed and laid-back environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Buffalo, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $34.65 - $37.97/hr.
