Summary:
The role of the Clinical Resource Coordinator is that of expert practitioner, collaborator, consultant, educator, clinician, researcher and change agent. She/he functions across the continuum of care, positively influencing the quality and delivery of patient care.
The Clinical Resource Coordinator collaborates with nursing staff in the planning and delivery of patient care to age and need specific patient populations. Evaluates and provides for the educational needs of the patient, family and nursing staff. Consults with nursing staff and physicians on patient related problems, providing recommendations and assisting in their resolution. Proposes changes on standards to evaluate nursing care effectiveness and introduces innovative nursing practices and techniques.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program
BSN
MSN preferred
Current RN licensure in New York State
EXPERIENCE
Certification in related specialty must be obtained within one year
Minimum of three (3) years recent clinical nursing experience
Current BLS and ACLS certifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with all levels of unit personnel, as well as physicians, families, visitors and to manage the activities of a diverse group of professional, nonprofessional and clerical employees
Possesses active listening skills
Planning skills to develop goals and objectives in concert with those of the hospital and implements action plans to meet those goals
Analytical ability to identify opportunities for improvements as well as positive problem resolution
Teaching abilities to promote optimum orientation and continuing education of staff
Has current knowledge of health care trends and issues and relates same to hospital and work area environment
Performs principal clinical responsibilities, according to the appropriate age and condition of the patient, as specified in the general nursing care competencies and unit specific competencies
In depth knowledge of change theory and demonstrated ability and guide change process
