Chevron Corporation Data Services Data Engineer (SAP Data Services / BODS) in Buenos Aires, Argentina
GBS Chevron Global Business Services (GBS), located in Buenos Aires (Puerto Madero), Argentina, is accepting applications for the position of Data Services Data Engineer (SAP Data Services / BODS) . Successful candidates will join the IT Organization, which is part of a multifunction service and technical center with a workforce of more than 1800 employees that deliver business services and solutions to the corporation across the globe.
The Data Services Data Engineer is responsible for building, optimizing, and supporting data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) solutions using SAP Data Services (BODS) . The role supports data migration, data conversion, and ongoing data integration needs across SAP S/4HANA and non‑SAP systems, ensuring data accuracy, performance, and reliability.
This role works closely with functional teams, MDG engineers, integration teams, and business stakeholders to deliver high‑quality data pipelines that support enterprise transformations and business operations.
Key Responsibilities
ETL Development & Data Transformation
Develop, and maintain SAP Data Services (BODS) jobs, workflows, and dataflows
Build robust transformation logic for:
Data cleansing
Standardization
Enrichment
Validation
Data Migration & Conversion Support
Support data migration and conversion activities for SAP S/4HANA implementations and releases
Work with SLT team members to extract data from legacy systems (SAP and non‑SAP) and load into:
SAP S/4HANA
SAP MDG staging areas
Migration Cockpit (where applicable)
Perform data reconciliation and validation to ensure source‑to‑target accuracy
Performance Optimization
Optimize Data Services jobs for performance and scalability by:
Leveraging parallelism and degree of parallelism settings
Pushdown optimization where applicable
Efficient use of caches and datastore configurations
Troubleshoot and resolve long‑running jobs, failures, and performance bottlenecks
Data Quality & Controls
Implement data quality checks and error‑handling mechanisms within ETL jobs
Produce audit, error, and reconciliation outputs to support data governance and controls
Collaborate with MDG and data governance teams to align ETL logic with business rules
Environment & Release Support
Support ETL activities across environments (DEV, TEST, UAT, PROD)
Participate in:
Cutover planning and execution
Mock conversions and dress rehearsals
Hypercare and post‑go‑live support
Follow transport management, documentation, and release standards
Collaboration & Documentation
Work closely with:
MDG Data Engineers
Functional consultants (FI, MM, SD, PM/EAM)
Basis and infrastructure teams
Document ETL designs, mappings, and operational procedures
Contribute to Data Services standards, playbooks, and best practices
Required Skills & Experience
Core Technical Skills
Strong hands‑on experience with SAP Data Services (BODS)
Proficiency in:
Dataflows, workflows, and transforms
Datastores (SAP ECC, S/4HANA, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.)
Error handling and logging
Solid SQL skills for data analysis and validation
Data & Integration Knowledge
Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA data migration or conversion programs
Understanding of SAP master and transactional data structures
Familiarity with migration approaches such as:
ETL‑based loads
Staging and key mapping concepts
Functional Awareness
Ability to understand business context behind data (Finance, Supply Chain, Asset Management, etc.)
Translate functional requirements into technical ETL logic
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Attention to detail and data accuracy
Clear communication with technical and functional stakeholders
Ability to work effectively in global, distributed teams
Nice to Have
Experience in multi‑instance S/4HANA landscapes
Prior experience in large SAP transformation or Digital Core programs
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
