IBM Security Data Engineer (Mid-Senior) in Bucharest, Romania

Your role and responsibilities
Join us and help build the data foundation behind enterprise cybersecurity operations. You’ll work with large-scale security data, ensuring logs are structured, enriched, and usable for effective threat detection, while gaining hands-on experience with modern SIEM platforms and collaborating closely with SOC and engineering teams in a dynamic, learning-focused environment.
In this role you will:
• Build and maintain log ingestion pipelines across multiple data sources
• Normalize and structure log data for consistent analysis
• Enrich security data with relevant context (e.g., identity, IP data)
• Onboard new log sources into the security ecosystem
• Support detection and correlation use cases
• Collaborate with SOC and detection teams
Required technical and professional expertise
• Ideally, 4+ years of experience in data engineering, log processing, or similar roles
• Experience working with data pipelines or log ingestion
• Experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Elastic, OpenSearch or similar)
• Scripting experience (e.g., Python)
• Understanding of structured/unstructured data (e.g., JSON, syslog)
Preferred technical and professional experience
• Experience in SOC or security environments
• Exposure to log enrichment or correlation
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry or similar tools
