Job Description Infrastructure Mechanical Design Engineer Location:Egypt (Design Office) Projects:UAE Infrastructure Projects Experience:5–10 Years Industry:Infrastructure / Utilities / Engineering Consultancy Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Infrastructure Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of mechanical systems associated with UAE infrastructure projects. The role focuses on pump stations, sewage treatment components, irrigation systems, and associated mechanical works, ensuring compliance with UAE authority standards.
Key Responsibilities Design & Engineering
Design and develop mechanical systems for infrastructure projects, including:
Pumping stations (water, sewage, stormwater)
Irrigation pumping systems
Sewage treatment plant mechanical components
Pipelines, valves, and fittings
Prepare:
Mechanical design calculations
Equipment sizing (pumps, tanks, valves)
Layout drawings and schematics
Hydraulic & Mechanical Calculations
Perform:
Pump head and flow calculations
System pressure and friction loss calculations
Equipment selection and sizing
Coordinate with wet utility teams for hydraulic inputs
Standards & UAE Authority Compliance
Ensure compliance with UAE standards and authority requirements:
Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT)
Dubai Municipality
ADDC
DEWA
Apply international standards such as ISO, BS, AWWA, and relevant pump/system design codes
Equipment & Vendor Coordination
Prepare technical specifications and datasheets for:
Pumps, blowers, valves, and mechanical equipment
Review vendor submissions and technical offers
Coordinate with suppliers and procurement teams
Coordination
Work closely with:
Wet utilities, civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams
Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and model reviews
Support UAE-based teams and clients remotely
CAD & BIM
Develop and review drawings using:
AutoCAD
Civil 3D (for coordination)
Revit / BIM tools (preferred)
Ensure clash-free and coordinated models
Documentation & Deliverables
Prepare and review:
Design reports
BOQs (Bill of Quantities)
Technical specifications
Support authority submission documentation
Construction Support
Provide support during construction stage:
Respond to RFIs
Review shop drawings
Assist in troubleshooting site issues
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience Requirements
5–10 years of experience in infrastructure mechanical design
Experience in UAE infrastructure projects (highly preferred)
Background in engineering consultancy/design offices
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of:
Pumping systems and hydraulic principles
Mechanical equipment selection
Infrastructure utilities systems
Familiarity with UAE authority requirements
Software Skills
AutoCAD
Hydraulic calculation tools (preferred)
Basic knowledge of BIM tools (Revit/Navisworks)
Soft Skills
Strong coordination and communication skills
Ability to work in offshore design teams (Egypt–UAE coordination)
Time management and multitasking ability
Preferred Requirements
Experience working on offshore design centers (Egypt/India) for UAE projects
Familiarity with authority submission processes in UAE
Arabic language skills (advantage)
