Job Description: Project Manager – LNG Import Terminal (FEED Phase)
Position Title:Project Manager – LNG Import Terminal (FEED)
Location:Bahrain
Department:Projects / LNG Assets
Reports To:Senior Management – LNG Assets
Position Overview
We are seeking an experiencedProject Managerwith a strong background inLNG terminal development, specificallyLNG import terminalsand preferably projects involvingFloating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRUs). The selected candidate will lead theFront-End Engineering Design (FEED)phase of a major LNG infrastructure project in Bahrain, ensuring that all works are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
This role requires a proactive and detail‑oriented leader capable of coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, managing complex interfaces, and engaging effectively with stakeholders, regulators, and executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership & Execution
Lead and manage all FEED-phase activities from planning through execution, monitoring, and close-out.
Ensure delivery against project objectives including schedule, budget, scope, quality, and safety.
Lead preparation for internal and external stage‑gate reviews, ensuring compliance with Company project governance standards.
- Project Planning & Scheduling
Develop detailed project schedules, including milestones, deliverables, and critical-path activities.
Track progress and update schedules regularly; proactively manage deviations and changes.
- Multi-Disciplinary Team Coordination
Coordinate and guide engineering teams across all disciplines (process, mechanical, electrical, marine, civil, HSE, etc.).
Drive collaboration across functions to ensure technical alignment and efficient project workflows.
- Budget & Cost Control
Prepare and manage project budgets, cost forecasts, and expenditure tracking.
Identify cost optimization opportunities and ensure financial discipline throughout the FEED phase.
- Stakeholder Engagement
Interface with internal and external stakeholders, including engineering teams, contractors, business partners, and senior executives.
Ensure alignment of project objectives with stakeholder expectations through clear, consistent communication.
- Internal & External Interfaces
Collaborate with internal Bapco Energies departments: engineering, operations, maintenance, HSE, finance, and procurement.
Liaise with external vendors, FEED contractors, FSRU providers, and service partners.
Work closely with regulatory authorities and government agencies to ensure compliance and secure necessary approvals.
- Risk Management
Apply strong risk management practices to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
Maintain active risk registers and ensure prompt resolution of emerging project challenges.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance
Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards across all FEED activities.
Implement quality assurance processes to validate engineering deliverables and design integrity.
- Contracting & Commercial Oversight:
Lead FEED contract administration including change management, contract correspondence, and performance tracking.
Support development of EPC tender packages and participate in technical evaluation.
- Reporting & Documentation
Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, and documentation summarizing project progress, issues, risks, and mitigations.
Ensure accurate, organized, and accessible project records.
- Regulatory Permitting & Environmental Requirements
- Ensure FEED deliverables comply with all environmental, maritime, and national regulatory requirements including EIA, QRA, HAZID/HAZOP, and navigational assessments.
- Marine & LNG Terminal‑Specific Technical Scope:
- Oversee marine engineering deliverables including berthing/mooring studies, jetty design, metocean data validation, and navigational assessments
- Interface with FSRU Owners / Charterers
- Coordinate technical interfaces with FSRU supplier including P&ID integration, custody transfer, utilities tie‑ins, and marine operations
- Leadership & Team Development
Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to project team members and junior engineers.
Cultivate a collaborative, accountable, and results-driven team culture.
Qualification Requirements
Experience
Minimum 15 yearsof experience in project management, with significant exposure to LNG terminal projects.
Mandatory experiencein managing FEED forLNG import terminals.
FSRU-related project experience is preferred and highly advantageous.
Technical & Professional Skills
Strong understanding of LNG infrastructure, FSRU technologies, and international standards.
Expertise in project management methodologies, risk management systems, and interface management.
Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and engineering document control systems.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or relevant technical discipline.
Advanced degrees or professional certifications (PMP, PRINCE2) are desirable.
Leadership & Communication
Demonstrated leadership capability managing cross-functional teams in complex technical environments.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interfacing with technical and non-technical stakeholders, senior management, regulators, and contractors.
