Job Description

Obtains complete and accurate demographic and insurance data by interviewing the patient over the telephone and entering information in the Eagle System. Answers phones efficiently, providing timely, and courteous access into the system

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency

  • Must have knowledge of Epic Optime and Onbase surgical scheduling systems.

  • Knowledge of Surgical scheduling, indexing and presurgical testing appointments.

  • Familiar with the third-party Insurance verification process and regulations.

  • Computer skills required

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $30.51 - $32.68 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Listens closely to all the customers’ requests and concerns and follow through appropriately

  • Verifies the patient’s insurance coverage and if necessary secure additional information from the physician or patient; evaluate patients Medicaid status (if appropriate)

  • Copies and distributes OR schedule to designated areas

  • Notifies patient/physician of insurance pre-certification requirements

  • Notifies appropriate areas of all cancellations of admissions, surgeries, and pre-testing

  • Computer literacy and knowledge a must

  • Consistent accuracy in data entry a must

  • Refers to Supervisor on all the cases that do not meet BIMC standards for patient access clearance

  • Demonstrate an ability to organize and achieve quality performance in new routines, procedures, and skill

  • Demonstrate an ability to assemble and maintain records appropriately in order to increase the overall efficiency to maximum potential

  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to recognize, establish and deal with priorities

  • Maintains accurate filing system for pre-admissions, admissions, and ambulatory surgery materials

  • Possesses knowledge of third-party insurance requirements as relates to in-patient, ambulatory surgery admissions

  • Processes and submit completed accounts on a timely basis according to the departmental needs as required
