The MSII Track Instructor is responsible for providing classroom and field instruction to new and incumbent employees in track safety, major track construction, inspection, maintenance and EAM. The instructor ensures compliance with NYCT rules, safety standards and established policies and procedures.
Responsibility:
This role is for dynamic and enthusiastic supervisors that are looking for promotion, skill & leadership development and overtime opportunities. This includes, but is not limited to:
Provide classroom and hands on field instruction
Instruct employees on topics including, but not limited to, track safety, track inspection, right of way protection, etc.
Monitor and review performance, offering actionable feedback to participant and management
Conduct refresher and corrective training as required
Support safety initiatives, training and curriculum audits
Create and maintain training aids & mockups
Collaborate with department managers to review and edit training materials and course curriculum
Research industry best practices and incorporates new & innovative delivery methods
Perform administrative tasks and other duties as required to meet business needs

$115,888
To be considered for this position, current MTA employees must have at least one year of service in their current role. Eligibility to interview also requires maintaining a satisfactory record in performance, attendance, and disciplinary conduct.
Desired Skills:
Create and follow lesson materials & present training materials in an effective manner
Ability to communicate through verbal and written means
Technical knowledge of track systems and maintenance methods
Coordinate with other training units to achieve training goals effectively
Provide input to update and revise learning materials / manuals
Ability to use resources effectively and adapt to changing conditions
Knowledge and experience of track safety and track flagging procedures as outlined in the NYCT Rules and Regulations, MW-1 Standards Reference Manual & the MOW Safety Rule Book
Education and Exper i ence:
F iv e y ears of full-time-satisfactory expe ri ence workin g for a major rai l ro ad or trans i t authority in sta lling, m a i ntaining, and repair i ng t r ack; at least one (1) year of this ex p er i e n ce must have been in a supe rvisory capac i ty .
