RiseBoro Homecare Inc. Assistant Director, Level Up! Financial Coaching in BROOKLYN, New York

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of the Director of Economic Empowerment Programs, the Assistant Director will work to ensure the overall expansion and success of Level Up’s financial c oaching i nitiative, as it is implemented across several RiseBoro social service programs. Level Up! utilizes a client-centered model that prioritizes the unique personal finance goals of each client served. The Assistant Director will be primarily responsible for strengthening Level Up! financial coaching services and working with the Director to strategize, develop, and implement the growth and expansion of financial coaching across the RiseBoro social service portfolio. The Assistant Director will directly supervise all Financial Coaches, as well as recruit, train, and onboard new coaches. They will oversee work product and integration of Financial Coaching into programs, work with other supervisors and directors to ensure the success of the program, and develop a closer coordination between Financial Coaches and Career Coaches within Level Up! The Assistant Director will also monitor data and inputs into Change Machine to track performance, identify gaps, and propose solutions as they are needed.

Supervisory & Leadership

  • Onboard and supervise all Financial Coaches; responsible for establishing internal KPIs and performance goals of supervisees, including minimum number of client meetings, relevant financial security outcomes, etc.

  • Hold 1:1 and group supervision of designated supervisees to ensure support and monitoring of their workload and progress; identify and pursue training opportunities to fill capacity or knowledge gaps.

  • Work alongside Director to provide general leadership of financial coaching program and mentorship to coaches across all programs, which may include facilitating weekly team meetings, making presentations to other programs about Level Up!, offering technical assistance to coaches on financial related topics, providing training when needed; monitoring progress in case management tracking system (Change Machine).

  • Work collaboratively with staff across programs (Homebase, LEAP, Home 4 Good, etc.) in order to achieve the outcome metrics required by the programs

  • Identify other programs needing financial coaching services and integrate services in alignment with Level Up! goals and capacity.

  • Work collaboratively with other Level Up! staff including, Career Coaches, to achieve financial goals with clients.

  • Work with the Director of Economic Empowerment Programs to spread financial literacy and financial coaching services to staff , as needed.

  • Assist in planning, coordinating and participating in the annual certification for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (V.I.T.A).

  • Remain up to date on related, supportive resources to refer clients for additional assistance; seek referrals where gaps in services exist.

  • Develop relationships with external service providers, such as workforce or education providers, in order to make effective referrals that enhance financial security.

  • Adapt the approach to coaching depending on the needs of the program, working with the Director to find engaging, sustainable ways to draw in more clients.

    Financial Coaching

  • Hold up to 5 meetings per week with clients, helping them increase financial security and meet their financial goals, including but not limited to establishing/improving credit, reducing debt, increasing assets/savings, and lowering financial transaction costs.

  • Plan and coordinate Financial Coaching workshops for small groups of clients, and transition attendees into 1 -on-1 meetings.

  • Conduct engaging coaching sessions and encourage clients to establish ongoing participation in follow-up meetings with the financial coaches and other partners.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

    COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrated professional experience in social services with a focus on personal finance management required

  • Demonstrated professional expertise in Financial Coaching/Counseling required

  • Exceptional organization and process management skills, i.e., starting multi-step projects and seeing them through to completion

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team

  • Ability to lead and inspire with a positive attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit

  • Ability to think critically and problem-solve

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor's degree Preferred

  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in social services

  • Focus on personal finance management preferred

  • Financial Counseling/Coaching Designation Required (AFC, FFC, CFP, etc.)
