POSITION DETAILS

New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn offering associate and baccalaureate degrees, invites applications for an Academic Program Coordinator for College Now FutureReadyNYC (FRNYC).

College Now is a free college transition, dual enrollment program for NYC public school (NYCPS) students. The program enables NYCPS high school students to develop academic momentum toward a college degree, envision options for their future, make informed choices about college and learn how their education can lead to rewarding careers. College Now at City Tech offers students from designated high schools the opportunity to enroll in college credit-bearing courses, participate in college-readiness workshops and engage in STEM research opportunities free of cost. Classes meet after the regular high school day and/or on Saturday on the City Tech campus.

Under supervision, the Academic Program Coordinator of College Now FutureReadyNYC (FRNYC) maintains College Now’s database and works with internal and external stakeholders to support City Tech's College Now Program. The Academic Program Coordinator supports recruitment, retention, implementation, assessment, and development of a yearlong college readiness project that is provided on Saturdays from 8:00 - 5:00 PM and summers from Monday - Thursday. This position requires work on a flexible schedule (evenings and Saturdays for a minimum 40 weeks a year).

Reporting to the Director of College Now, the Academic Program Coordinator’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Assist Director and managers with the preparation of materials for student orientations, on-campus visits, and student advisement.

  • Conduct student orientations and campus tours.

  • Provide basic information about registration and transfer of College Now credits.

  • Maintain student records for 1400+ student participants annually.

  • Assist with the collection of statistical data on program outcomes and activities, including preparation of various analytical and assessment reports as directed.

  • Prepare and distribute staff and student surveys.

  • Serve as a liaison between the College Now Program and City Tech offices including Bursar, Registrar, Admissions and Academic Scheduling.

  • Liaise with partner high schools to support course expansion and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.

  • Conduct program recruitment sessions for students attending partner high schools, and assists students with College Now application process and collects admissions documents during these sessions.

  • Supervise administrative duties of part-time office staff, including College Assistants and student aides, as directed by management.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • One to two years of relevant work experience, preferably in a precollege program.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Access and Excel, and aptitude to learn new systems as needed.

  • Strong understanding of the needs and challenges facing NYC high school students from diverse backgrounds, and an interest in urban education and college access.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, within the department and with faculty and other administrators.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, written and oral communication, facilitation, and data administration skills.

  • Strong ability to communicate program requirements effectively to students, as well as have the ability to easily build rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, staff and faculty.

  • Understanding of the college application and financial aid process, particularly for CUNY and SUNY colleges, and experience with pre-enrollment advising.

  • Serves as liaison to various College offices to provide service delivery and appropriate referrals to students

  • Collects and reviews syllabi to ensure compliance with standards

  • Serves as resource person for students and faculty regarding program policies and procedures

  • May supervise office operations and/or monitor department budget

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$50,500 – $59,444. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
