Member Experience Representative - Remote (MUST LIVE IN WI)

Contract-to-Hire

Pay Rate: $18.25/hour

Location: Remote within Wisconsin

Position Overview

The Member Experience Representative is responsible for answering phone and email inquiries from members, providers, customers, or brokers regarding coverage, claim status, benefits, billing, and prior authorizations. This role focuses on delivering excellent customer service while striving for first call resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to incoming phone and email inquiries regarding:

  • Coverage

  • Claim status

  • Benefit interpretation

  • Billing

  • Prior authorizations

  • Translate healthcare and insurance terminology into clear, easy‑to‑understand communication.

  • Ask appropriate probing questions during calls to ensure accurate resolution.

  • Document all interactions and follow‑up actions accurately in the system.

  • Adhere to response timeframes, department metrics, and contractual standards.

  • Follow up with internal departments or external resources to resolve outstanding issues.

  • Escalate complex or unresolved issues to the appropriate supervisor or team.

  • Apply all applicable organizational, regulatory, and compliance policies.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and protect personal health information (PHI).

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of healthcare customer service or call center experience

  • Experience working with:

  • Commercial insurance

  • Insurance verification

  • Explanation of Benefits (EOB)

  • Prior authorizations

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong conflict management and de-escalation skills

  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Call center experience

  • Dental insurance knowledge

  • Additional experience with insurance verification and prior authorization

Functional Skills

  • Ability to manage a high volume of calls or emails

  • Comfort navigating multiple computer systems simultaneously

  • Ability to educate members across multiple lines of business

  • Effective use of dual monitors and computer-based resources

Training & Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CST

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brookfield, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.25 - $18.25/hr.
