Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Technical Scrum Master to lead agile execution for AWS-based data platform and analytics initiatives. This role combines Scrum Master leadership with strong business analysis and project coordination capabilities to support delivery across complex data ecosystems.
You will work closely with teams that leverage Redshift, Databricks, Athena, and Power BI, ensuring business requirements are clearly defined, prioritized, and delivered efficiently. You will act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, enabling predictable, high-quality delivery.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong Agile expertise, comfort operating in data and analytics environments, and the ability to manage dependencies across multiple teams and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Agile Leadership & Scrum Execution
Serve as Scrum Master for data engineering and analytics teams
Facilitate agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives) with a focus on clarity, accountability, and delivery outcomes
Drive backlog prioritization and sprint planning aligned to business value
Identify and remove impediments, including cross-team and data-related dependencies
Track and communicate delivery metrics such as velocity, burndown, and cycle time
Delivery Coordination & Execution
Coordinate delivery across data and analytics workflows, including ingestion, transformation, and reporting
Manage dependencies across teams working with Redshift, Databricks, Athena, and Power BI
Support release planning, sprint forecasting, and production readiness activities
Proactively identify and manage risks, issues, and blockers impacting delivery timelines
Ensure alignment between sprint execution and broader program or platform priorities
Business Analysis & Requirements Management
Elicit, document, and refine business and functional requirements for data and analytics use cases
Translate requirements into clear user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria
Partner with engineering and analytics teams to ensure requirements are understood and actionable
Support definition of metrics, KPIs, and reporting needs for business stakeholders
Maintain traceability from requirements through delivery and validation
Data & Platform Collaboration
Work effectively with teams delivering data pipelines, transformations, and reporting solutions
Ensure delivery aligns with established data models, governance standards, and platform architecture
Facilitate coordination across batch and near real-time data workflows
Support shared understanding between business stakeholders and technical teams
Help ensure consistent implementation across data and analytics layers
Governance, Quality & Continuous Improvement
Maintain backlog hygiene, definition of ready/done, and documentation standards
Ensure delivered solutions meet agreed business requirements and quality expectations
Drive continuous improvement across agile processes and team collaboration
Support structured release and change management practices
Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the primary interface between business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams
Facilitate workshops and requirement discussions focused on data and analytics needs
Provide clear, structured communication on delivery status, risks, and dependencies
Align priorities across multiple teams working on shared data initiatives
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field
6–8+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, Business Analyst, or Project Manager
Proven experience working on data, analytics, or technology-driven initiatives
Strong experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps)
Working familiarity with modern data platforms such as Redshift, Databricks, Athena, and Power BI
Solid understanding of data concepts, including data pipelines, transformations, and reporting
Core Skills
Agile/Scrum facilitation in technical or data-focused environments
Strong business analysis and requirements management
Backlog management and prioritization
Dependency and risk management across multiple teams
Working knowledge of SQL and data modeling concepts
Stakeholder communication across business and technical audiences
Understanding of data governance and quality principles
Preferred
Scrum certifications (CSM, PSM)
Experience working in AWS-based data environments
Familiarity with semantic layers or modern BI ecosystems
Exposure to AI-ready data concepts (structured datasets, semantic access)
Experience supporting CI/CD or release processes in data platforms
