Saint-Gobain Mechanical Plating Operator in BRISTOL, Rhode Island

The Plating Operator is responsible for producing high-quality plated bearings for the automotive industry. This requires taking direction, utilizing written procedures, work routers, written and verbal communication, and operating equipment in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

1st Shift: -6:30AM-3PM (M-F)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Machine Operation: Set up, operate, and tend to mechanical plating barrels and equipment to coat parts.

  • Process Control: Monitor the tumbling process, ensuring proper speed, temperature, and time for effective metal deposition.

  • Material Preparation: Clean parts using degreasers or cleaning solutions before plating.

  • Safe Chemical Handling: Add required chemicals, metal powder, and media (impact beads) to the barrel.

  • Quality Inspection: Examine finished parts to ensure proper coating thickness and appearance using specialized equipment.

  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on barrels, cleaning equipment, and surrounding areas.

  • Safety: Strict adherence to safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and 5S and cleanliness standards.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required

  • 6+ months in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience in mechanical plating is preferred

  • Experience in chemical handling is preferred

  • Forklift Experience is preferred

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the local pay range for this position, which is $18.00 to $21.00 per hour. This hourly pay rate offered can vary depending on location, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. In addition to the hourly base pay rate, this position is eligible for periodic bonus payments/an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount can be up to 5% of the hourly rate based on company and individual performance measures. The total annual target cash range (Hourly Pay Rate plus Bonus, annualized (40 hrs/week * 52wks)) for this position is $39,300 to $45,800. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and, by nature, can vary based on company and individual performance and are not a guarantee.
