Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong experience in API integrations and building scalable integration solutions. In this role, you will design and develop integration plugins and pre-built integrations for Tandem Connect, helping connect systems across the built environment and enabling Digital Twin workflows.
How You’d Spend Your Day
Designing and building integration plugins for external systems
Collaborating with product and customer teams to define integration requirements
Reviewing and improving integration patterns and reusable components
Troubleshooting and enhancing integrations in production
Experimenting with AI tools to accelerate development workflows
Responsibilities
Own and contribute to all aspects of software development, delivering reliable, secure, high-performance, and scalable integration solutions across cloud and edge environments
Design, develop, and maintain integration plugins and pre-built integrations that interface with external systems via APIs, ensuring robustness, reusability, and performance
Collaborate with customer adoption specialists, product teams, and stakeholders to translate high-level integration requirements into productised, reusable solutions
Contribute to solution architecture and design, applying best practices, design patterns, and deep technical expertise across the full development lifecycle
Identify and implement common patterns and reusable components to promote consistency, scalability, and efficiency across integrations
Design, implement and manage the CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, and publishing integration plugins
Ensure adherence to secure software development practices, including managing technical debt, vulnerabilities, and ongoing cybersecurity and trust improvements
Ensure compliance with company Trust Commitments, values, and policies, and that all development aligns with established SDLC processes
Support internal and external stakeholders by troubleshooting, enhancing, and maintaining delivered integration components
Produce clear and comprehensive technical documentation and effectively communicate solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences
Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, code generation assistants, agent-based workflows) to improve productivity, code quality, and development velocity
Contribute to the development and training of AI agents and workflows, including prompt engineering and automation of development tasks, where appropriate
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
5+ years of hands-on experience in software development and/or building integration solutions, including maintaining high-quality, production-grade systems
Strong experience with JavaScript (Node.js) and familiarity with Groovy or similar scripting languages
Proven experience designing and integrating with APIs (REST, GraphQL) and messaging protocols such as MQTT
Solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including design, development, testing, and deployment
Experience with unit testing, end-to-end testing, and test-driven development (TDD)
Experience working with Git or equivalent version control systems
Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) and familiarity with prompt engineering or agent-based workflows
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins
Experience with containerised environments (e.g., Docker)
Working knowledge of DevOps and DevSecOps practices, including secure coding principles
Experience working with integration platforms (iPaaS) and common integration patterns
Understanding of Linux environments and core networking concepts
Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban)
Strong attention to detail with a focus on building secure, stable, and scalable software
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing integrations with enterprise and built-environment systems, such as
Autodesk platforms (e.g., Tandem, Autodesk Forma, Fusion Manage)
IBM Maximo or other Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems
Built environment protocols and systems (e.g., Modbus, BACnet, OPC-UA)
Experience with development tools such as Postman and IDEs (e.g., Visual Studio Code)
Deeper experience with CI/CD pipeline design and automation
Exposure to cybersecurity practices, vulnerability management, and secure development standards
Experience working across both startup-style environments and large enterprise organisations
Experience contributing to or training AI agents to support development, testing, or integration workflows
