The Test Lab Technician plays a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and high-quality testing operations within the hydraulic brake test lab. This role involves running tests, performing hands-on maintenance, and preventive maintenance of testing equipment, as well as providing technical support for complex troubleshooting. The technician will contribute to both daily lab operations and future planning initiatives.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and diagnose hydraulic test equipment.
Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and regulations while working in the test lab.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the test lab at all times.
Provide essential technical support and assistance to other team members as needed.
Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure project timelines are met.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of test equipment calibration and maintenance.
Create, implement, and execute robust preventive maintenance programs for all laboratory equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair a wide range of lab support systems, including hydraulic pumps, processing piping, and controls, mechanical equipment, electrical systems (including AC voltages up to 480 and DC control circuits).
Responsible for the maintenance and repair of test stands.
Monitor ongoing maintenance tasks and provide regular status updates to stakeholders and leadership.
Coordinate effectively with internal teams, equipment suppliers, and installation contractors for seamless project execution.
Support the commissioning, safe operation, and maintenance of new and existing test equipment.
Stay current on emerging test equipment technologies and maintenance best practices.
Essential Skills
Experience working within a testing lab or R&D environment with an understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
Experience troubleshooting and problem-solving hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
Experience developing continuous improvement or preventative solutions.
Experience selecting parts to make repairs, specializing in hydraulics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Engineering (nice to have).
Certified Hydraulics Specialist (nice to have).
Work Environment
The Test Lab Technician will report to the Engineering Manager and work in the Hydraulics Lab alongside three other engineering technicians.
The facility has a rich history of manufacturing automotive brake components for over 60 years, specializing in products such as Hydro-Boost Booster, Hydro-Max Booster & Master Cylinder, Driveline Park Brake, and Medium Heavy Truck ZOHT Disc Brake.
The position requires 40-45 hours per week.
The successful candidate will receive 10 days of PTO, 6 paid holidays, and Udemy.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bridgman, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
