Position Overview
The Senior Release Train Engineer (RTE) – PLM will serve as the chief Scrum Master and facilitator for the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Agile Release Train (ART). This role is responsible for driving ART execution, ensuring alignment across cross‑functional teams, and enabling continuous value delivery. The Senior RTE partners with Product Management, Platform Leadership, Architecture, and Business Stakeholders to orchestrate Program Increment (PI) planning, streamline workflows, manage dependencies, and ensure strong governance across the PLM platform.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in Agile at scale, expertise in PLM domains (such as Teamcenter, Windchill, Enovia, or Siemens), and a proven ability to lead complex technology programs in large enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
Agile Release Train Leadership
Lead, facilitate, and optimize Agile Release Train (ART) ceremonies to support predictable delivery of PLM capabilities, including PI Planning, ART syncs, Scrum of Scrums, Inspect & Adapt, and System Demos.
Act as a servant leader and coach for teams within the ART, promoting Agile maturity, continuous improvement, and cultural adoption of Lean‑Agile principles.
Program Increment (PI) Planning & Execution
Coordinate and execute all aspects of PI Planning: agenda creation, capacity alignment, dependency identification, program objectives, and commitments.
Manage PI execution, ensuring progress tracking, transparency, and resolution of delivery challenges across the ART.
PLM Roadmap & Release Prioritization
Collaborate with Platform Leaders, Product Group Owners, and Product Management to align business goals with PLM platform roadmaps.
Facilitate prioritization of features, capabilities, and enablers to ensure business value delivery and architectural runway.
Cross‑Functional Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with Product Owners, Technical Leads, IT Platform Leaders, and business SMEs to communicate objectives, define scope, and ensure alignment across functions.
Identify, manage, and escalate risks, issues, and decision needs; drive proactive mitigation plans and dependency resolution.
Governance, Reporting & Metrics
Maintain governance processes including RAID logs, demand pipelines, resource allocation models, and performance dashboards.
Track and report ART performance metrics (velocity, predictability, quality, flow) to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with enterprise standards, change management procedures, and architecture governance.
Continuous Improvement & Delivery Excellence
Facilitate Inspect & Adapt workshops and drive improvements across processes, tooling, and execution strategies.
Cultivate a culture of continuous learning and optimization within the ART and across PLM delivery functions.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
8–12+ years of experience in Agile delivery roles, with at least 4–5 years as an RTE or Senior Scrum Master supporting large-scale programs.
Strong understanding of PLM platforms (e.g., Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, Dassault Enovia, SAP PLM).
Proven experience in leading Agile Release Trains in a scaled Agile (SAFe) environment.
Demonstrated ability to manage cross‑team dependencies, risks, and complex delivery pipelines.
Excellent communication, facilitation, conflict-resolution, and leadership skills.
Preferred
SAFe RTE certification or SPC certification.
Background in engineering systems, manufacturing, or product lifecycle management.
Experience driving transformation from legacy PLM systems to modern, digital PLM platforms.
Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and engineering workflow integration within PLM systems.
