Manufacturing Assembler I
Part-Time | 24 Hours/Week Start Time: 5:00 AM EST or 6:00 AM EST (two shift options available)
Position Overview
The Manufacturing Assembler I plays a key role in the success of our production operations. This individual is responsible for performing the manufacturing processes required to produce our products and will be cross-trained in all functions of production. Responsibilities span the full fabrication lifecycle, from receiving raw materials through inventory, building sub-assemblies, assemblies, and fiber optic cables, completing in-process inspections and documentation, accurately tracking time and waste, and conducting self-inspection prior to final QA review.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble components to final configured products using process instructions, blueprints, drawings, specialized tooling, fixtures, measuring equipment, and hand tools.
Read and interpret assembly drawings, parts lists, operations sheets, and visual aids.
Verify quality of product at required intervals and confirm accuracy of all work performed.
Perform in-process quality checks for specific quality attributes and defects.
Follow written technical instructions (prints, work instructions, standard operating procedures) as well as verbal direction.
Complete all necessary manufacturing records legibly and accurately.
Perform inventory counts of parts and tools used in the assembly process.
Wear PPE as required; work is performed in an environmentally controlled area.
Qualifications & Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent required; 1–2 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment preferred.
Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to assemble small parts/pieces quickly and accurately.
Basic computer skills to utilize barcode scanners, documents, and logs.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, layout drawings, and process worksheets.
Understanding of product quality standards and compliance with health and safety procedures.
Experience handling small electronic devices and handheld tools.
Ability to accurately read measurement tools and perform basic math calculations.
Experience using basic laboratory equipment (hand tools, torque wrenches, microscopes, calipers, scales, etc.).
Microscope experience is a plus.
High attention to detail and strong self-motivation.
Willingness and flexibility to cross-train throughout the entire production department.
Clear verbal and written communication skills; ability to listen and follow direction.
Ability to work independently or within a supervised team environment.
Availability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand for up to 8-hour shifts.
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
Must wear PPE including lab coat, gloves, eye protection, and mask as required.
Must be comfortable working with chemicals such as acetone, alcohol, hydrogen, and epoxies.
