Basic Qualifications Requires a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field. Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree and 6 months of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred, CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. Responsibilities for this Position ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES: As a Systems Engineer for the SDA GMI program, you will be a key member of a cross-functional team responsible for developing and deploying state-of-the-art ground operational systems. Your contributions will be vital to the success and innovation of the program. Preferred Skills and Experiences: Domain Knowledge: Ground system design or scheduling knowledge Tracking mission design knowledge Satellite communications knowledge Ground to satellite communication knowledge Technical Skills: Experience with system/software design for cloud-based microservice architecture Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows) Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) Systems Design and Integration: Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and methodologies Experience with systems design, integration, and validation Proficiency in requirements analysis and system architecture design DevOps and Automation: Understanding of DevOps principles and practices Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) Cloud and Infrastructure: Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) Knowledge of infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) Security and Compliance: Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) Collaboration and Communication: Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Proficient in documenting system designs, configurations, and procedures Preferred Technical Background: Systems Engineering: Proficiency in systems engineering, decomposing requirements into architecture, internal and external interfaces, and design behavior Experience with ground pre-planned or ad-hoc scheduling and situational awareness of satellites and payloads Experience with tracking IR payload or ground mission data transport, handling, and analysis Experience decomposing high-level space-ground systems design into ground software/systems design Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE): Experience with MBSE methodologies and tools such as CAMEO or MagicDraw Programming and Tools Skills: Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, and MATLAB, including for software developer coordination, system analysis, prototype algorithm development, or modeling Cloud Computing: Knowledge of cloud technologies and their application in system design and deployment Simulation and Modeling: Background in simulation and modeling analysis with tools like STK, particularly in aerospace applications a plus DevOps and Automation: Understanding of DevOps principles and practices Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) Security and Compliance: Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) Collaboration and Commun
