Corteva Agriscience Project Manager in Brasília - Federal District, Brazil

Project Managers have end-to-end full accountability to deliver business objectives through the efficient execution of capital projects, ensuring compliance with Corteva values related to safety, environment protection, ethics, innovation and collaboration.

Responsibilities:

Business case / Front-end Loading (FEL) development

Guides functional teams to determine overall objectives and timelines of prospective projects, supporting yearly capital planning.

Serves as the focal point to develop alternatives that meet business needs, using internal seed processing knowledge, project management expertise, and market trends and technologies.

Staffs project teams timely and effectively, with internal and external resources, ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly understood, team workload is reasonable, cross-functional communications are adequate, and conflicts are managed.

Works with Platform / Functional Leaders, Capital Engineering Leader, and the core project team to develop the appropriate project execution strategy.

Leads project teams to execute the required deliverables, ensuring completeness and quality of data, to formalize business requirements, design criteria, and project plans, scope, cost, schedule and quality.

Lead the project Pre-Gates and Gatekeeping Reviews.

Communicate with stakeholders to grant formal project authorization.

Design

Collaborates with internal customers and the project team to develop basic documentation, engaging outside consultants and contractors, as needed.

Ensures design is developed according to project objectives and execution strategy, and a robust quality assurance process is applied to check and approve the deliverables.

Ensures smooth transition of design information throughout stages and among functional teams.

Procurement

Ensure Corteva procurement practices are in place.

Ensure procurement plans are approved by Procurement team.

Engages functional teams to approve offers, from technical and management standpoints.

Engages functional teams to review and approve contracts, when required.

Ensure purchase orders are issued timely and with all required information.

Ensures effective expediting and contract management.

Approve invoices and guarantees payments are executed timely.

Construction

Acts as the champion of safety.

Ensures contractors are aligned with safety and quality requirements.

Ensures contractors know the project execution strategy and that their own strategies align with it.

Ensures site teams are aligned with construction and safety plans.

Ensures owner’s teams are staffed to guarantee proper supervision and approval of field execution.

Project Management and Performance

Delivers assets that are safe to operate and maintain.

Ensures all required permits are in place for the execution of the projects.

Guides effective management of scope, schedule, budget, cash flow, risks, changes, and execution.

Communicates with stakeholders and ensures consistent, effective, and regular project reports are provided.

Defines and analyzes Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to ensure overall performance expectations for the project are met:

Project spending/commit schedule

Project costs versus estimate

Engineering and Procurement milestones and gate reviews

Construction Schedule

Commissioning and Start-up Plan

Start up performance vs. Project Auth. Operation performance

Project Closeout

Manages the capital accounting process, complying with internal policies and procedures.

Partners with business finance to prepare projects financial evaluations and reports, as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical (including Automation) or Agriculture Engineering.

5+ years of experience managing or controlling industrial projects, managing design and/or construction.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage external partners, and effectively guide and influence stakeholders.

Solid interpersonal relationship skills, with good written and oral communication.

Strong owner’s mindset.

Highest standards of conduct and respect for others.

Proficient English is mandatory. Spanish language required in advanced level.

Differentiators:

Project Management related master’s degrees / specialization or broadly recognized professional certifications.

Previous experience with seed / grain / food processing or general bulk material handling projects.

Preferred locations: Goiás or Sao Paulo States.

Travel requirements: approx. 50% of time
