Your role and responsibilities

As an Application Architect specializing in open-source development platforms, you will design and implement software solutions using various open-source programming languages and tools. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that the chosen open-source solutions align with the organization's goals and objectives.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Design Open-Source Solutions: Design and implement software solutions using various open-source programming languages and tools, requiring a deep understanding of the underlying technologies and the ability to integrate them effectively.

• Ensure Alignment with Organizational Goals: Ensure that the chosen open-source solutions align with the organization's goals and objectives, maximizing their potential and meeting the needs of all parties involved.

• Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with developers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the final solution meets the needs of all parties involved, driving effective solution delivery.

• Integrate Open-Source Technologies: Integrate open-source technologies effectively to create efficient and maintainable systems, leveraging expertise in open-source development platforms.

• Drive Solution Implementation: Drive the implementation of open-source solutions, ensuring that they are implemented in a way that maximizes their potential and meets the organization's objectives.

Required technical and professional expertise

The SE Lead will oversee the ongoing software engineering function, ensuring best practices, methods, and processes are embedded across all teams. This role provides technical leadership and oversight across data and software engineering domains, driving consistency and quality delivery. The position includes conducting peer reviews, peer coding, and mentoring to strengthen team capability and performance.

Candidate must be an advanced Python developer with strong object-oriented programming knowledge as well as experience across the end-to-end software development process with a focus on good software engineering discipline.

Ideally, the candidate will also have skills and experience in additional OOP languages such as C++, Java, or Go, as well as DevOps (Code Coverage, CI/CD, Git processes, PR process, code complexity).

This is a highly visible role within the client's technical organization, working with senior stakeholders across cross-functional delivery teams as well as capability towers. In addition, this role is hands-on and a doer that will be accountable for and ensuring Software Engineer process execution, with decision making responsibility (and not just managing teams/resources).

Responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with LYB's software engineers, data engineers, data scientists, architects, data analysts, and other technical resources to ensure high-quality, scalable, and secure solutions.

• Demonstrated proficiency at writing readable, maintainable, efficient, secure, and well-documented Python code following LYB's established development standards.

• Support for application and infrastructure integration, deployment, and performance optimization activities.

• Troubleshooting and resolution of software defects and technical issues across environments.
