Your role and responsibilities

Join IBM Consulting and become part of a team supporting large-scale enterprise applications for a leading organization in the automotive industry.

As an Oracle PL/SQL Developer, you will work within an Application Operations environment where development and support come together. You will collaborate with experienced engineers to maintain, enhance, and optimize Oracle-based applications while helping investigate and resolve complex technical issues.

This role is ideal for developers who enjoy combining hands-on coding with analytical problem solving in real production systems, while working closely with experienced Oracle specialists across IBM’s delivery centers in Bucharest and Brașov.

You will join one of IBM’s largest Oracle engineering communities in Romania, with access to Oracle certification programs and training through Oracle University, mentorship opportunities, and exposure to complex enterprise systems in a global industry environment.

In this role, you will:

• Develop and maintain database logic using SQL and PL/SQL

• Investigate and resolve application issues as part of 2nd level technical support

• Perform root cause analysis and implement technical fixes or improvements

• Optimize database queries and improve system performance

• Support application releases, testing, and deployment activities

• Collaborate with development teams to implement enhancements and maintain system stability

This position offers opportunities to grow into roles such as Senior Oracle Developer, Technical Lead, or Solution Architect, while benefiting from flexible hybrid working arrangements.

Required technical and professional expertise

• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development (typically min. 4+ years)

• Experience working with Oracle databases such as Oracle 19c

• Analytical skills for investigating and resolving technical issues in production environments

• Experience using development tools such as Oracle SQL Developer or PL/SQL Developer

• Comfortable communicating in German and English in a professional environment, including working with international teams and stakeholders.

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab or similar)

• Experience working in application maintenance or AMS environments

• Interest in learning data integration or cloud technologies
