Job Title: Quality Inspector

Job Description

The Quality Inspector reviews components and finished assemblies to verify they meet all drawings, specifications, and company or customer requirements. This role measures physical dimensions, evaluates test documentation for conformance with Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP) specifications, and performs inspections at incoming, in-process, and final stages on the production floor to ensure consistent product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Review test records for finished products to confirm conformity with ATP testing parameters and documented specifications.

  • Use appropriate inspection equipment and resources, such as micrometers and other measurement tools, to verify product dimensions and features.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure products meet the intended design requirements.

  • Recommend necessary adjustments and changes to existing production processes to the Production Engineering function when quality issues or improvement opportunities arise.

  • Report product faults and failures to the Material Review Board (MRB) promptly and provide accurate supporting information.

  • Remove and scrap nonconforming products that do not meet production standards, following MRB disposition, and recommend strategies to improve overall product quality.

  • Review chemical and physical composition documentation of raw materials used in components to confirm compliance with requirements.

  • Perform and review First Article Inspections to validate that manufacturing processes can consistently produce products that meet design requirements.

  • Conduct solder workmanship inspections in accordance with IPC-A-610 standards.

  • Prepare complete and accurate source inspection packages to support customer on-site inspections.

  • Document inspection results clearly and accurately using computer systems and data entry tools.

  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve quality issues and support continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in quality control and inspection practices, including the use of micrometers and other measurement tools.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, including basic GD&T familiarity.

  • Experience reviewing test records and documentation against ATP or similar test specifications.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements, documentation, and reporting.

  • Proficiency in computer use and data entry for recording inspection results and maintaining records.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to document findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with SharePoint for document management and collaboration.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications for reporting and analysis.

  • Familiarity with an ERP system for tracking materials, work orders, and quality records.

  • Experience performing First Article Inspections in a manufacturing or production environment.

  • Experience conducting solder workmanship inspections to IPC-A-610 standards.

  • Ability to recommend process improvements based on inspection results and quality trends.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily in a production and quality assurance environment, working closely with the shop floor, incoming inspection areas, and final inspection stations. You will regularly use precision measurement tools such as micrometers and other inspection equipment, as well as computer systems for data entry, documentation, and record management. Daily work involves interacting with engineering, production, and quality teams, reviewing drawings and specifications, and preparing documentation for internal and customer inspections. Standard business hours typically apply, with work performed on-site in a manufacturing setting where adherence to appropriate safety practices and practical work attire is expected.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Branford, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
