Facilities Maintenance Technician (Hospital)

Job Description

A reputable healthcare facility in Omaha, NE is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to support overnight operations and ensure the safe, reliable performance of all building systems. This role is essential to maintaining a fully functional hospital environment, with responsibility for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.

The position is scheduled Monday–Friday, 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM , with an on-call rotation as needed and a night-shift differential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain mechanical systems including:

  • HVAC equipment

  • Boilers, hot water heaters, pumps

  • Chilled water and steam systems

  • Plumbing and electrical systems

  • Perform repairs and adjustments using power and hand tools

  • Read meters, gauges, and system printouts; maintain and record daily utility logs

  • Conduct routine building and mechanical room inspections

  • Operate and adjust building automation systems, including:

  • Climate control

  • Lighting

  • Fire and security systems

  • Perform electrical maintenance and repairs on wiring, motors, fixtures, controls, and appliances

  • Repair and maintain plumbing systems, including clearing line blockages and replacing components

  • Maintain building hardware such as doors, locks, window latches, and hinges

  • Complete minor carpentry repairs on cabinets, countertops, tables, and fixtures

  • Execute preventive maintenance programs and maintain accurate records

  • Document completed work and labor time within the work order system

  • Request and coordinate materials and supplies necessary to complete assigned work

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment operation and maintenance

  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:

  • HVAC systems

  • Plumbing

  • Pumps and mechanical equipment

  • Electrical systems

  • General carpentry

  • Ability to safely troubleshoot, adjust, and repair mechanical systems

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy

  • Ability to work independently during overnight hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in hospital, healthcare, or critical-facility environments

  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs

  • Comfort working with building automation systems

  • Ability to prioritize and respond to urgent facility issues

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boys Town, NE.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
