Job Description
The Environmental Service Attendant performs a full range of custodial and general cleaning duties to keep campus facilities and surrounding grounds clean, safe, and orderly. This role supports residence halls, academic buildings, and athletic facilities by maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation across all assigned areas.
Responsibilities
Perform routine custodial duties to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment in dormitories, academic buildings, and athletic facilities.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, common areas, offices, hallways, and other high-traffic spaces as assigned.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors, furniture, and fixtures to maintain a neat and presentable appearance.
Remove trash and recycling from designated areas and dispose of it in appropriate collection points.
Clean up spills, debris, and general messes promptly to reduce safety hazards and maintain a tidy environment.
Support grounds upkeep by helping to keep exterior walkways, entrances, and adjacent areas free of litter and debris.
Follow established cleaning schedules and instructions to ensure all assigned tasks are completed within the shift.
Use cleaning tools, supplies, and equipment safely and according to provided guidelines.
Report any maintenance issues, safety concerns, or supply shortages to the appropriate contact in a timely manner.
Work cooperatively with other team members and campus staff to support a clean, welcoming environment for students, faculty, and visitors.
Essential Skills
Ability to perform custodial and general cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal.
Capability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to established cleaning procedures.
Reliability in maintaining assigned work areas and completing tasks within scheduled timeframes.
Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift as needed to perform routine custodial work.
No prior experience required; willingness to learn on the job.
No specific education required for this role.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Comfort working independently and as part of a team in a campus environment.
Attention to detail to ensure all areas are thoroughly cleaned and maintained.
Basic understanding of safe use of cleaning products and equipment, or willingness to be trained.
No certifications required for this position.

Work Environment
The role is fully onsite within campus facilities, including dormitories, academic buildings, and athletic facilities. Work is performed in a temperature-controlled environment, helping maintain comfort throughout the shift. Typical schedules include a Sunday through Thursday focused on dorms from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and a shift from Tuesday through Saturday from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, with duties also extending to other campus buildings as needed. The position involves routine physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting while using standard custodial tools and cleaning equipment. Additional grounds keeping positions are available Monday - Friday from 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM. Attendants work around students, faculty, staff, and visitors in active campus spaces and are expected to maintain a neat, practical appearance suitable for custodial and general labor work.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $13.72 - $13.72/hr.
