BAE Systems Technician II - Production - Metal Finish in Boulder, Colorado

Job Description

This position is intended to provide support as a metal finish technician in the Manufacturing Process Centers in Boulder Colorado for BAE Systems Inc Space & Mission Systems (SMS). Cross training and flexing to the other work centers could be a core responsibility of this position.

The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

What You ll Do:

  • Position requires ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints.

  • Anodizing: apply anodic coatings to metal surfaces.

  • Passivating: apply passivation treatments to metal surfaces.

  • Chromating: apply chromate coatings to metal surfaces.

  • Electropolishing: polish metal surfaces using electrochemical methods.

  • Etching: etch metal surfaces using chemical methods.

  • Masking: apply detailed masking to materials to protect areas of metal surfaces during processing.

  • Work with solvents, acids and bases, and using personal protective equipment, gloves, and safety glasses is required.

  • Critical Clean:

  • Precision cleaning of hardware, assemblies and subassemblies. Stringent post cleaning verification testing is required.

  • Ability to Read and interpret mechanical blueprints to determine cleaning procedures.

  • Packaging hardware to maintain critical levels of cleanliness.

  • Working with solvents using personal protective equipment, gloves, and safety glasses is required.

  • Paint:

  • Prepare hardware for subsequent paint operations; these operations include, but are not limited to:

  • Position requires ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints to determine surface preparation, masking, and painting requirements.

  • Surface preparation for painting operations

  • detailed masking

  • transportation of hardware between campuses; packaging hardware to maintain critical levels of cleanliness.

  • handling of critical hardware

  • operation of paint equipment and ovens

  • and preparation of paint for application to hardware.

  • Work with solvents, acids and bases, and using personal protective equipment, gloves, and safety glasses is required.

  • Lubrication:

  • Perform a variety of operations on mechanical hardware, including (but not limited to):

  • Working in a clean environment, using Cleanroom operating best practices.

  • Cleaning and lubrication of motors, gearboxes, bearings and fasteners. Disassembly, lubrication and reassembly of intricate and delicate hardware is often required.

  • Grit/soda blast hardware.

  • Perform complex processing on bearings.

  • Polymerics:

  • Handle, Mix and Freeze epoxies, and Solvents.

  • Maintain Lab cleanliness, Inventory materials and order as required.

  • Collect and record Process data.

  • Operate automated mixing, dispensing, and measuring equipment.

  • Monitor work area to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.

  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 1 years or more related experience.

  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor s or Master s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

  • Position requires ability to perform work area maintenance activities including area organization, chemical handling and chemical replenishment.

  • Ability to pass in-house certifications including personal protective equipment, hazardous waste, hazard communication, crane, and cleanroom practices.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $47614 - $76181

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
