Responsibilities

• Develop, improve, and maintain frontend software, tests, and documentation for geospatial web interfaces
• Design, prototype, and implement modular React components that drive responsive, high-stakes user experiences
• Collaborate closely with other frontend engineers as well as UX design, backend, systems engineering, and visualization teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Contribute to Agile practices (standups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and foster clear communication across teams
• Continuously improve frontend engineering practices and processes, including testing and performance standards
• Grow into a key technical voice on the frontend team, with opportunities to shape design systems, roadmap decisions, and adoption of modern frontend technologies.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional experience developing user-facing web applications, ideally handling real-time data visualization
• Proficiency in JavaScript with React or another modern frontend framework
• Experience with CSS frameworks and styling systems (e.g., Tailwind, Styled Components) and state management libraries (e.g., Redux, Zustand, Recoil)
• Strong skills in frontend testing (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress)
• Familiarity with build and deployment tooling (e.g., Webpack, Vite) and integrating with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience working with or building design systems and reusable component libraries
• Solid understanding of software engineering best practices and commitment to high-quality code
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
• Effective communication skills and attention to detail

Candidates who have any of the following skills will be preferred:

• Experience with Typescript
• Experience with Git, Jira, Confluence, Scrum
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Experience with backend development or UI/UX design is a plus
• Experience with OPIR, E/O, SAR, Spectral, RF, or other remotely sensed data
• A current DoD security clearance

The pay range for this position is $120,000 - $146,000 / year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
