SciTec has an immediate opportunity for a talented engineer to support our programs delivering Next-Generation Missile Warning software. This is a unique opportunity to join a business delivering core capabilities for National defense. You will work within a fast-paced team delivering end-to-end software processing of Overhead Persistent InfraRed (OPIR) sensor data for Missile Warning, Missile Defense, Battlespace Awareness, and Technical Intelligence.
We are seeking a Red Hat OpenShift Engineer to design, deploy, secure, and maintain containerized platforms supporting mission-critical applications. This role focuses on OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) operations, Kubernetes administration, automation, and secure DevSecOps enablement in a regulated environment.
Responsibilities
Design, deploy, operate, and maintain Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) 4.x environments
Administer and support Kubernetes clusters, including upgrades, scaling, monitoring, and troubleshooting
Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions for repeatable and reliable platform deployments
Develop, maintain, and execute Ansible playbooks for system and platform automation
Support CI/CD pipelines enabling DevSecOps workflows (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins)
Integrate container platforms with underlying compute, storage, and networking infrastructure
Apply and maintain security hardening in accordance with DoD and DISA requirements
Support compliance activities, including DISA STIGs, SCAP scans, and remediation
Monitor platform health, performance, and capacity; troubleshoot and resolve issues across the stack
Collaborate with application teams to onboard, deploy, and optimize containerized workloads
Document architectures, configurations, procedures, and operational runbooks
Participate in Agile ceremonies and cross-functional technical reviews
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
2+ years of professional experience building and maintaining Kubernetes environments using Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) 4.x or later
3+ years of professional experience administering Linux systems
Strong understanding of Ansible and automation using playbooks
Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and tooling
Experience operating container platforms in a secure or regulated environment
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
Candidates who have any of the following skills will be preferred:
Strong development or operational experience with Docker, docker-compose, and Kubernetes
Experience deploying and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for DevSecOps (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins)
Experience developing and maintaining Ansible playbooks for automation and orchestration
Experience hardening Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems using DISA SCAP and STIG Viewer
Experience with VMware compute, storage, and networking
Experience with Dell servers, switches, and SAN solutions
Scripting experience using Bash, Python, or Perl
Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions in containerized environments

The pay range for this position is $146,000 - $175,000 / year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
