SciTec Deputy Chief Engineer in Boulder, Colorado
Responsibilities
- Leadership: Lead and oversee all technical aspects of the OPIR framework system design, development, integration, testing, and deployment.
- Architect and design systems: Define the end-to-end data processing architecture, from raw data ingestion to product delivery, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Establish standards: Set technical standards and processes for data handling, quality, and integrity to ensure all system development complies with mission and regulatory requirements.
- Technical oversight: Support engineering review boards and provide technical direction to ensure the integrity of deliverables and the overall system
- Communicate with stakeholders: Act as the primary technical interface between the engineering team, program management, senior leadership, and external customers. Present complex technical concepts and project status clearly.
- Manage risk identification, mitigation strategies, and technical problem resolution
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering innovation and high-quality deliverables
- Ensure all system components meet operational, reliability, security, and performance requirements
- Serve as the principal technical liaison between the program and government program offices
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline; Master's or PhD preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in aerospace, defense, or government contracting, specifically in OPIR systems
- Proven track record of leading complex systems engineering projects and cross-functional teams
- Experience with government standards and frameworks such as DoD, NIST, and ICD requirements
- Secret Security clearance is mandatory
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
Candidates who have one or more of the following skills will be preferred
- Domain experience with remote sensor systems or ground architectures, especially experience with OPIR sensor processing.
- Experience supporting systems engineering programs in the defense and aerospace fields
- Experience with Agile software development methods.
- Familiarity with the Earned Value Management System.
- Active TS/SCI Security clearance

The pay range for this position is $148,000 - $175,000 / year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
