Aston Carter Technical Writer (WRM) in Bothell, Washington
(Job Description)
A large reputable utility company in Bothell, WA is currently hiring for a Sr. Technical Writer to support the Wildfire Risk Management team. This employee will support the development of a variety of technical and operational documents related to wildfire risk mitigation. This includes: 1) Program and process documentation, 2) Procedures and job aids, 3) Technical guidance for internal teams, and 4) Summaries and reports that translate wildfire mitigation activities into clear, actionable content.
Pay - $50/hr. - $70/hr. (Depending on experience with Wildfire mitigation, tenure, level of experience, relevant industry, etc.).
Location - Bothell, WA (Hybrid; Onsite 2-3 days a week)
Schedule - Standard Monday - Friday Morning Shift
Contract Duration - 24 Months (Very good possibility of converting to a permanent employee during contract)
(Responsibilities)
Work with the Wildfire Risk Management team and subject matter experts (SMEs) to obtain product and/or process familiarization and specific documentation requirements and information.
Provide input on processes, procedures, materials, and services to support innovation and continuous improvement.
Support continuous improvement efforts with the team and promote healthy, respectful communications.
Follow style standards for procedure documentation and work instructions. Ensure the writing style of all technical documentation is simple, clear, concise, grammatically correct, and written for the intended audience and purpose.
Ensure all produced materials have a consistent “look and feel” amongst one another and with existing materials.
Revise existing documentation based on product changes documented.
(Qualification Requirements)
3-5 years of professional technical writing work experience.
Must Have Technical Writing Experience in either Wildfire Mitigation, Utility, Environmental, and/or Emergency Management.
Familiarity with risk mitigation, safety programs, or regulatory-driven documentation.
Strong stakeholder interview and requirements gathering skills.
Ability to translate complex field operations into clear written guidance.
Experience creating infographics such as diagrams, screenshots, workflows, graphs, etc.
Must be comfortable submitting to a drug test upon onboarding (including THC testing).

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
