Actalent Biomarker Scientist in Bothell, Washington

The Translational Pathology Biomarker Testing Laboratory (TPBTL) is seeking a highly motivated and multidisciplinary scientist to support the development, implementation, and execution of biomarker testing for drug programs in early phase clinical development. This role primarily involves working with immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in situ hybridization (ISH) assay development and clinical testing within a CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratory. The scientist will perform and document standardized experiments, assist with specimen accessioning, testing, imaging, data analysis, quality control, report writing, and handle general laboratory operational tasks.
Responsibilities
Develop and validate immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in situ hybridization (ISH) assays.
Utilize microscopes and imaging systems, including commercial image analysis software.
Independently plan and execute laboratory experiments, collect data, and present results to internal teams.
Maintain current and broad knowledge in Molecular & Cellular Biology, Cancer Biology, and Pathology.
Collect, analyze, and synthesize data into presentations, posters, and reports.
Assist in writing, following, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures.
Work in a regulated environment maintaining a high-performing CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratory.
Order and maintain reagents and supplies, instrument maintenance, and general lab upkeep.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree with 2-5 years of laboratory experience or Master's degree with 0-2 years in a biological science related field.
Experience working in a laboratory setting.
Ability to follow and execute standard operating procedures.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with molecular biology and/or histology techniques.
Experience in a regulated clinical laboratory, CLIA and/or CAP environment is strongly preferred.
Knowledge in cancer biology, immunology, or histopathology.
Use of microscopes, imaging systems, image analysis software.
Experience in multiplexing and/or fluorescent IHC.
Assay development using automated platforms.
Proficiency in data management, data analysis, and statistical software packages.
Work Environment
The scientist will work in a dynamic and cross-functional team that includes pathologists, program managers, clinical technicians, data management, quality, regulatory, and management. The laboratory is CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited, ensuring a high standard of operations. This is a Contract position based out of Bothell, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $52.00/hr.
