Effective child support services are an essential part of the larger effort by the Commonwealth and the federal government to promote families' economic self-sufficiency. DOR/CSS’s core functions are to establish parentage, and establish, enforce and modify child support and health insurance orders. Much of our success depends on collaborations with a wide variety of state agencies and private entities. Position Summary An intern in the Policy and Procedures group of the Office of Chief Legal Counsel supports our role in managing the legal practice and child support policy for the Commonwealth, as well as supporting functional teams within OCLC, including Problem Resolution Office for individual casework, and the statewide Safety Team in our initiative of outreach with domestic violence advocates. * *Core Responsibilities · Non-legal research · Writing policy changes · Updating a legal memorandum folder · Assisting with public records requests · Participation in the SAVES initiative · Outreach related to Safety Preferred Qualifications · Writing experience · Interest in law and public service * First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.
