Job Title: Senior Accountant
Job Description
The Senior Accountant leads analytical support for long-term strategic initiatives and financial reporting within a hospital environment. This role serves as a Senior contributor and primary point of contact for complex financial analyses, regulatory submissions, and executive-level reporting. The position partners closely with leadership to inform decision-making, drive operational improvement, and strengthen overall financial performance.
Responsibilities
Provide advanced analytical support for long-term strategic programs and initiatives in a hospital or healthcare setting.
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned financial projects, clearly defining scope, deliverables, and timelines.
Prepare, review, and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries and account reconciliations.
Analyze general ledger accounts, cost centers, grants, and special funds to ensure accuracy, completeness, and appropriate classification.
Identify financial trends, variances, and risks, and provide actionable recommendations and corrective actions to leadership.
Present financial findings, insights, and recommendations to Senior leadership in a clear and compelling manner.
Support operating budget development through detailed financial analysis, forecasting, and scenario modeling.
Lead and execute ad-hoc projects focused on operational efficiency, cost optimization, and financial performance improvement.
Prepare executive-level financial analyses, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members on financial reporting, analysis techniques, and best practices.
Lead team responses to ad-hoc leadership and operational requests, ensuring timely and accurate information.
Prepare and submit financial reports required by regulatory agencies and external organizations.
Support audits, monthly close processes, quarterly reviews, and year-end financial reporting activities.
Maintain detailed supporting documentation for financial statements, audit requests, and regulatory submissions.
Collaborate cross-functionally with departments across the organization to support departmental and organizational financial objectives.
Complete additional financial and analytical projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health Care Administration, or a closely related field.
Minimum of 5 years of financial reporting and analysis experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
Expert-level analytical and financial reporting skills, including the ability to handle complex data sets.
Demonstrated experience with complex, enterprise-wide financial analysis.
Strong ability to influence and communicate effectively with leadership.
Proven experience leading strategic financial initiatives within a healthcare or hospital environment.
Demonstrated ability to improve financial processes and enhance analytical capabilities.
Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and guiding junior staff.
Proficiency in accounting and financial analysis, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Solid understanding of financial reporting requirements and regulatory expectations in healthcare.
Essential Skills Needed
Experience preparing executive-level financial reports and presentations.
Ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Boston, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
