Meta Network Engineer, Deployment & Support in Boston, Massachusetts

Summary:

Meta is looking for a Network Engineer, Deployment & Support - Peering who will be responsible for the deployment and support of one of the world’s largest and complex networks. As a member of this team, you will have a unique opportunity to be involved in projects related to implementation, scaling and supporting of the Peering network at Meta.

Required Skills:

Network Engineer, Deployment & Support Responsibilities:

  1. Deploy, configure, migrate and support peering connections with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and content delivery networks (CDNs) to optimize network performance and deliver capacity

  2. Participate in the provisioning, decommissioning and migration of Edge networks across various POP sites

  3. Collaborate closely with Edge Strategy Managers, Edge Delivery Managers, ISPs and Colos to implement peering agreements

  4. Forecast and plan peering requirements for the constantly evolving Edge network and engage with stakeholders to have developed solutions in place

  5. Role can require occasional travel

  6. Proactively seek opportunities to improve and streamline the end-to-end deployment process

  7. Represent the AMER region as a peering contact and be part of a global Peering & Edge team

  8. Contribute proactively to documentation, automation and processes as they evolve

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta

  2. Experience in network engineering with a focus on deployment & support of Peering, Edge, CDN & ISP networks

  3. Knowledge of networking routing and switching protocols (BGP, MPLS, RSVP-TE, IS-IS)

  4. Working knowledge of network protocols (TCP/UDP, DNS) and experience with IPv4/IPv6 environments

  5. Experience in multi-vendor environments with proven experience of different network platforms types

  6. Working knowledge of POP/Colo physical infrastructure concepts and optic types used in 10G/100G/400G networks

  7. Being able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver against project deadlines

  8. Ability to forecast and plan in a fast paced environment and translate the forecast into actionable deliverables with specific timelines

  9. Basic knowledge of Linux systems, network automation and scripting languages

  10. Communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external partners

  11. Ability to develop scalable solutions & deployments on the Edge & Peering network

  12. Experience working in a fast-paced environment supporting and adapting to an evolving network infrastructure. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and proactively drive network deployments and expansions, while identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and solve day-to-day operational challenges

  1. Experience working in a large network provider or CDN in a similar Edge facing role with a large cross functional global team environment

  2. Technical leadership capabilities with demonstrated analytical skills

  3. Knowledge in Backbone and Datacenter networks and understanding of Optical networks

  4. Network certifications such as CCIE, CCNP, JNCIE, JNCIP

  5. Knowledge of various scripting languages

  6. Experience with process improvement and systems development, leveraging automation to streamline repetitive workflows

Public Compensation:

$51.44/hour to $159,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
