Wayfair Associate Director, Technical Program Management in Boston, Massachusetts

We’re hiring an Associate Director of Technical Program Management to drive large-scale, high-impact strategic technology initiatives that span multiple platforms, systems, and functions across Wayfair. In this role, you will define and own the Technical Program Strategy for some of our most complex Business Initiatives — aligning technical execution with business outcomes, enabling cross-organizational delivery excellence, and serving as a thought leader for technical planning, risk mitigation, and operational governance.
What You’ll Do Own Strategic Technical Delivery
Define and lead the Technical Program Strategy for multi-platform initiatives.
Align technical milestones, architecture decisions, and delivery sequencing to strategic objectives and business value.
Establish and track measurable delivery metrics, success criteria, and executive-level reporting.
Lead Cross-Platform Execution
Orchestrate execution across Engineering, Product, Design, Science, Infrastructure, and business stakeholders.
Integrate complex systems and manage cross-platform dependencies across APIs, microservices, data models, and infrastructure components.
Anticipate and mitigate delivery risks, adjusting scope, timelines, or strategy as needed to achieve outcomes.
Influence Architecture and Operational Excellence
Partner with technical leaders to shape scalable, resilient architectural decisions and integration patterns.
Implement delivery governance mechanisms that improve quality, speed, and transparency across teams.
Drive operational improvements that unlock step-change gains in execution efficiency.
Advise and Influence at the Executive Level
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, translating technical trade-offs into clear business implications.
Guide prioritization decisions amid competing platform, product, and business demands.
Bring awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends to inform long-term technical direction.
Elevate the TPM Discipline
Mentor TPMs and cross-functional delivery leads.
Drive consistency, rigor, and clarity in ambiguous or evolving organizational environments.
We Are a Match Because You Have:
10+ years of experience leading complex, cross-platform technical programs with measurable business impact.
Demonstrated ownership of multi-team initiatives spanning microservices, APIs, distributed systems, and platform integrations.
Strong architectural fluency with the ability to engage deeply on system design, data models, event-driven systems, and observability.
Proven ability to define delivery metrics, manage risk across dependencies, and operate autonomously in high-ambiguity environments.
Executive-level communication skills, including the ability to distill complex technical trade-offs into clear, data-driven narratives.
Deep experience applying Agile and Lean methodologies at scale.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field; advanced technical or business education preferred.
