The State of New Hampshire, Department of Military Affairs and Veterans Services has a part-time vacancy for Building and Grounds Maintenance Worker.
Summary:
To perform a variety of grounds care, custodial and light maintenance duties at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery (NHSVC).
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:8th grade education
License/Certification:Valid driver's license
Other Requirements:
Must pass a State Police records check
Must be in physical condition with sufficient strength and agility to perform actions such as lifting, bending, and climbing stairs/ladders
Must be able to work a flexible work schedule to keep state agency buildings clear of snow or to change hours during any special emergency period

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in grounds care, custodial, and/or light maintenance
Experience interacting with members of the military, including family members of deceased veterans

Responsibilities:
Performs outdoor landscaping and grounds care tasks; such as cutting and trimming grass and hedges, planting of lawns and shrubs and cutting and clearing brush; to improve and maintain grounds appearance at the NHSVC.
Assists in the opening and closing of graves in the daily interment operations of the NHSVC.
Performs indoor and outdoor custodial tasks; such as, general cleaning, floor care, changing light bulbs and snow/ice removal; to maintain cleanliness, appearance and safety standards at the NHSVC.
Makes minor repairs and performs simple maintenance in building; such as, painting, window replacement and rough carpentry; to correct minor maintenance deficiencies.
Operates a light vehicle to make deliveries and pick up and distribute supplies, equipment, and mail.
Operates, cleans, oils, greases and makes minor repairs with/on light equipment and hand tools to perform custodial and maintenance tasks.
Determines requirements for and distributes supplies to ensure continuous accessibility of custodial supplies at the NHSVC.
