BOONE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Operations and Communications Manager in BOONE, Iowa
Join our team and help keep Boone County's business community thriving! We're looking for a detail-loving, people-centered multitasker to keep the Chamber running smoothly behind the scenes. As our Operations Manager, you'll be the friendly face (and organized brain!) who makes sure everything from bookkeeping to community connections runs without a hitch. This flexible, fast-paced role is perfect for someone who loves variety one day you might be preparing payroll, the next welcoming a new member, or helping plan a community celebration. You'll play a key role in making the Chamber a welcoming hub for businesses, residents, and visitors alike.
What You'll Do:
Member Services
- Be the go-to person for Chamber members answering questions, solving problems, and making every member feel valued.

``` - Keep member records up to date, assist with onboarding new members, and help renew existing ones.
Invoicing and Bookkeeping
- Manage invoicing for membership dues, sponsorships, and events.
- Handle payments, reconcile accounts, and maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks.
- Provide clear, organized financial updates to Chamber leadership.
- Support billing tasks for Downtown Boone as part of our shared services.
- Look for small improvements that make our systems more efficient and user-friendly.
Office Operations and Facility Upkeep
- Handle day-to-day office needs from ordering supplies and snacks to managing maintenance requests and vendor contacts.
- Coordinate building upkeep, assist with Facilities Committee meetings, and help with maintenance quotes or repairs.
- Maintain an inviting, well-organized office space.
Community Engagement and Chamber Support
- Share information with residents and newcomers through welcome packets and helpful referrals.
- Support community events and outreach with a friendly, can-do attitude.
- Coordinate logistics for meetings, sponsorships, and special projects as assigned.
- Maintain and update Chamber communications, including newsletters, website content, and member outreach.
- Support marketing efforts through social media management, email campaigns, and promotional materials.
- Help prepare materials for board meetings including printing, assembling packets, and taking meeting minutes.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience in administrative operations, office management, bookkeeping, or accounting
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and standard office software
- Strong organization, communication, and customer service skills
- A knack for juggling multiple priorities with a smile
- An appreciation for community connections and local business growth
- Willingness to pitch in wherever needed from greeting guests to helping at events
