Duties Description Will assist in dock installation and removal and Navigation aids placement.Will be required to work outside in adverse conditions during the winter.Will be required to safely operate boats, trailered equipment, tractors, plow trucks, loaders, chippers, and other machines.Work assignments will include cleaning of toilets / bathroom facilities, building of outhouses and picnic tables, minor carpentry, roofing, painting, minor plumbing, equipment operation, chainsaw operation, lifting garbage cans chest high, using rakes and shovels and various hand tools.Will perform barge maintenance to include painting and structural repairs.Must use PPE and issued clothing and safety gear must be kept clean and presentable.Hazardous tree removal.Must have certification to operate motorized boats or personal watercraft at time of appointment.
Minimum Qualifications One year of service as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 or Motor Vehicle Operator; OR, two years of full-time, verifiable experience in custodial, grounds, or maintenance operation or assisting in a journey-level trade. Must possess a valid New York State driver's license.
Additional Comments This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2027, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.Must be able to work in remote areas.Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required.
