As a Senior Metals/Films Process Development Engineer, you will play a critical role in advancing Micron’s Advanced DRAM roadmap. This role offers deep technical ownership, close partnership with integration and module teams, and the opportunity to directly influence yield, performance, and long‑term technology direction. You will work hands‑on with advanced tooling while shaping process strategies that move from development into production.
Responsibilities:
Technically innovate : Drive strategic technical and tactical decisions at a project and platform level by contributing to feasibility studies; Proactively engage technical challenges before they become problems. Key processes include vapor/plasma etching, selective wet etching, surface prep, and high aspect processing.
Technically Focus : Have the vision and technical skills to relate technologies and business plans of group and other group’s projects; Actively build Micron Intellectual Property; Aware of external technical advancements substantiated with understanding of the state-of-the art
Impact Results : Lead Micron IP into successful technical readiness and transition to program integration.
Influence : Regularly interact with senior management to provide consultation and influence technical and strategic decisions; Crafts alliances with customers.
Skill and experience : Regularly drive product planning/roadmap, platform features, and functional area strategy with a focus on scientific fundamentals
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years OR Master’s degree with 2+ years, OR PhD‑level research experience in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
Strong understanding of solid‑state physics, including metals, transition metal oxides, surfaces, and interfaces
Working knowledge of chemical kinetics applied to CVD, ALD, and PVD processes
Experience with thin‑film characterization techniques such as SIMS, XPS, EDS, AFM, SEM, TEM, or XRR
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in semiconductor process development or high‑volume manufacturing
Hands‑on experience with thin‑film deposition equipment in a lab or cleanroom environment
Proficiency in data analysis, statistics, and extracting insight from large electrical and physical datasets
Experience applying AI, automation, or coding tools to accelerate engineering workflows
Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross‑functional technical collaboration
