Responsibilities
Position Overview
We are seeking an innovative, collaborative, and patient‑focused pharmacist to develop, launch, and oversee our new meds‑to‑beds program and closed‑door outpatient pharmacy within our 28‑bed hospital. This role is ideal for a pharmacist who is excited about building services from the ground up, improving care transitions, and shaping the future of our medication‑use processes. The pharmacist in this position will initially train and cross‑cover inpatient pharmacy services while outpatient operations scale. The position will begin as part-time and is expected to transition to full-time as the meds-to-beds program grows.
Key Responsibilities Program Development & Leadership
Lead the design, development, and implementation of the hospital’s meds‑to‑beds and outpatient pharmacy programs.
Establish workflow processes, staffing models, policies, and best practices.
Serve as the primary pharmacist and provide operational oversight for the closed‑door outpatient pharmacy upon launch.
Collaborate closely with nursing, case management, and physicians
Clinical & Operational Responsibilities
Perform accurate dispensing, verification, counseling, and patient education for discharge prescriptions.
Oversee the work of pharmacy technicians
Resolve insurance issues including rejections, prior authorizations, and co‑pay challenges.
Maintain compliance with state board of pharmacy, DEA, and hospital policies.
Cross‑Coverage of Inpatient Pharmacy
Train to provide coverage in the inpatient pharmacy until outpatient volume supports a full‑time dedicated role.
Support medication order verification, compounding, and routine inpatient workflow as needed.
Qualifications
Education & Licensure
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Pharmacy.
Active Idaho pharmacist license.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in meds‑to‑beds or retail pharmacy.
Outpatient pharmacy leadership or management experience preferred
Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
Strong understanding of care transitions, discharge processes, and medication reconciliation.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
