Idaho Division of Human Resources Immunization Program Manager - PH in Boise, Idaho

Be a champion of Public Health. The Department of Health and Welfare, Division of Public Health, is pleased to announce the recruitment of an Immunization Program Manager located in downtown Boise. This position will have oversight of Idaho’s statewide immunization program. Duties include development, implementation and oversight of the immunization program budget; writing and management of grants; completion of required progress reports; negotiation and management of contracts and memorandums of understanding; oversight of the purchase, inventory and management of vaccine within Idaho’s Vaccine for Children Program (VFC); oversight of Idaho’s Immunization Reminder and Information System (IRIS – immunization registry); analysis, assessment and problem solving to state and local immunization needs in terms of strategies, services, personnel, training, supplies and vaccine management; provide direct supervision of staff, including hiring, evaluation, and direction.

This position may be eligible for limited telework after successful completion of probation and necessary training. Approval to telecommute is not guaranteed and subject to termination at any time.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Setting strategic goals for the Idaho Immunization Program that align with strategic goals of the Department and Division of Public Health.

  • Evaluation of immunization-related statutes and regulations; interpretation of related laws and policies; proposing changes to statutes or laws.

  • Ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements.

  • The writing of grant proposals and progress reports.

  • Management of budgets for federal grants and state funds.

  • Supervisory responsibility for program staff.

  • Contract negotiations, writing, and management.

  • Oversight of Idaho’s immunization registry (IRIS).

  • Oversight of Idaho’s Vaccine for Children Program.

  • Oversight of the development and dissemination of training and educational materials for parents, providers, and the public.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. It is highly recommended to attach a one-page cover letter to your application to demonstrate how you meet the requirements below.

  • Some knowledge of management practices as well as experience providing technical proficiency, problem-solving, communication, and program area training. Typically gained by at least one-year experience managing a major Program and providing leadership of professional staff. Candidates may also qualify through completing upper-division college-level management coursework along with experience in a significant Leadership role.

    Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.

  • Good knowledge of public health principles. Typically gained through at least one year of college classes in public health topics, training in public health topics such as biostatistics, public health program planning, or epidemiology, and/or at least one-year experience working in public health programs.

  • Experience providing peer review, consultation and technical assistance to public health personnel. Typically gained through designing quality assurance, peer review systems, and orientation materials and training sessions for public health workers as part of regular job duties for at least one year.

  • Experience in developing and administering contracts, managing budgets, and grant-writing. Typically gained by working directly with contract development, contract administration, budget management, and by grant writing activities as part of regular job duties for at least one year.

  • Experience managing an Immunization Program. Typically gained by managing an Immunization Program or other program that oversees immunizations for a state, local, or federal agency or non-profit organization for at least one year)

  • Experience interpreting and implementing immunization-related laws and policies. Typically gained by at least one year of related experience.
