Job Summary
The Expert Field Service Technician is responsible for performing field service activities at customer sites safely and efficiently. This role works with advanced and complex systems, including mechanical, electrical, and diesel equipment. Responsibilities include troubleshooting systems, performing preventative maintenance, managing parts inventory, and identifying and correcting safety issues on both company and customer equipment.
This role requires self-sufficiency and the ability to work independently, often on multiple systems or at multiple locations, with direct customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities
Create and maintain a safe working environment and culture
Care for company property and equipment

Function effectively both independently and as part of a team
Lead, coach, and mentor junior technicians as needed
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and diesel systems
Perform preventative maintenance and equipment inspections
Assist customers on-site and ensure issues are resolved efficiently
Travel locally within the territory to meet customer demand (10–20%, including occasional overnight stays)
Education & Certifications
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card
Preferred:
Technical or trade school background
Technical certifications, industry licenses, or military technical experience
Experience
3–7 years of technical work experience
Water and/or wastewater industry experience preferred
Mechanical, electrical, or diesel experience considered
Customer service experience
Experience working independently with minimal supervision

Ability to synthesize technical information and communicate clearly
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently
Microsoft Office and smart device proficiency
Ability to derive insight from customer interactions to improve outcomes

Driving & Travel Requirements
Clean driving record
Completion of driver-related forms and background checks (MVR, FMCSA, Drug/Alcohol Disclosure, etc.)
Local travel in the territory required (10–20%, may include overnight stays)
