Apprentice Controls Service Technician

\ \ Location: Boise, ID, United States\ Category: Technician - Building Automation\ \ Description\ \ Position Purpose\ \ As a LONG Apprentice Controls Technician, you will support customers by troubleshooting and programming temperature control systems hardware and software based on customer complaints and concerns, or as identified by Fault Detection & Diagnostics (FDD) software. The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:\ \

  • Help control service Technicians perform calibration and check-out of control systems and ensure that specified sequence of operations and commissioning obligations are met.
  • Assist with inspections and assessments of the conditions of control systems for physical damage, wear and tear, and signs of degradation
  • Perform preventative maintenance such as cleaning, part replacements, software updates, or system optimizations to minimize the risk of failures and malfunctions
  • Aid and educate customers about proper function and upkeep to products
  • Effectively communicate with customers to answer questions, inquires and resolve technical issues
  • Inform customers about investing into necessary replacements or vital repairs that are key components to devices
  • Keep record of all repairs and maintenance and properly reporting issues to the technical supervisor
  • Work to become proficient in location specific control software systems.
  • Maintain positive attitude and have strong customer service skills
  • Enroll in and stay current in the ASP Building Automation Technician Program.
  • On-call work may be required on a periodic basis.
  • Other duties assigned.

\ \ Qualifications\ \

  • Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
  • Strong customer service and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel to include department managers, project managers, engineers, sales, and controls technicians.
  • Ability to legally drive a company vehicle.
  • Aptitude for computer systems or mechanical systems.
  • Basic programming and troubleshooting skills.
