Magellan Aerospace, New York has an exciting new opportunity for an In-Process Inspector. The purpose of this position is to identify and prevent defects, ensure compliance with quality control procedures, and contribute to the overall success of the manufacturing operations. The successful incumbent will perform inspections and quality checks during various stages of the manufacturing process to ensure that products meet specified requirements and adhere to quality standards.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform in-process inspections of manufactured components or assemblies at different stages of production to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and quality standards. Use precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators, to measure and verify part dimensions, tolerances, and finishes. Conduct visual inspections to identify any visual defects, such as surface imperfections, scratches, dents, or abnormalities in appearance. Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to understand product requirements and inspection criteria. Document inspection results, including measurements, observations, and any non-conformities found, accurately and in a timely manner. Communicate any deviations or non-conformities to appropriate personnel, such as supervisors, quality control engineers, or production teams, and collaborate on corrective actions. Ensure compliance with quality control procedures, including adherence to established inspection plans, standards, and work instructions. Maintain a clean and organized inspection area and handle measuring instruments and equipment with care to ensure their accuracy and longevity. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
Position Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent qualification. Previous experience as an In-Process Inspector or in a similar quality control role within a manufacturing environment is preferred. Attention to detail, technical knowledge, adaptability, problem solving, communication skills, analytical skills. Proficiency in using various inspection techniques, such as measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges), visual inspection methods, and other testing equipment relevant to the manufacturing process. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications accurately to understand product requirements and inspection criteria. Understanding of quality control processes, methodologies, and industry standards to conduct inspections and ensure compliance with specified requirements and quality standards. Strong skills in using precision measuring instruments to accurately measure dimensions, tolerances, and finishes of components or products. Keen attention to detail to identify defects, deviations, or non-conformities during inspections, ensuring high-quality standards are met. Effective communication skills to clearly report inspection results, document non-conformities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams, engineers, and supervisors. Proficiency in accurately documenting inspection results, non-conformities, and any relevant information in inspection reports or quality control systems. Effective time management skills to prioritize inspections, meet deadlines, and manage workload efficiently within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to adapt to changing inspection requirements, new products, or manufacturing processes and quickly learn and apply new skills or techniques. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively with production teams, quality control personnel, and other stakeholders to address quality-related issues and contribute to process improvements.
